I sent an e-mail to Soldano asking if the Avenger now comes with a loop. I didn't get a response in a few days and figured I wasn't going to get one. Well Mike Soldano just sent this response with a photo...

Hi Jim,

Yes, there is a version of the Avenger available with an effects loop. It is called the "Hot Rod" Avenger, and the retail price difference between it and the standard Avenger is $100.00. It is available in 50 or 100 watts.

The Avengers now have front grilles that allow the tubes to be seen. Attached is a picture so that you can see what they look like.

I hope this helps!

The Avenger is an amp I've wanted to try for a while. I have a feeling I'd like it quite a bit, particularly one like Degenaro has with the SLO transformer (Drake?). An AvengeSLO sure would look nice next to my D60. :D

I'm itching for something but not totally sure what.

Well, if you were buying one I'd call dibbs, but I'm broke. ;)

Deyoung Manufacturing Inc. (DMI) transformer

That's the one!

Thump you mentioned that you thought it sounded better than the SLO at lower volumes. Did have more gain? Did sound any different?

From what I remember reading... Bill Sundt designed the Decatones fx loop. It's supposedly the best loop in a Soldano amp. I played the Decatone quite a few times and it was pretty damn nice but the price tag is steep.

I don't know why you would assume I'd part with it. :D Actually I'm not totally sure I'm going to part with the Marshall. I am sure I'm going to move my Ibanez as out of my 4 guitars I'm really only using my Strat. The Ibanez is still kinda new so why wait until it gets beat up. But if I can move the ibanez and then the Marshall I could get my hand on the Soldano. Like I said I'm not sure if I want to part with the Vinatge Modern though. Boosted its pretty sweet and it's actually very managable at lower volumes without sounding like ass.

I would love to pick up an Avenger someday! All of the clips I've heard have been great

Avengers used to go for $1,000 or less used, but I'm not sure if that's changed. I sure would like to have one! :)

Yeah but if I got one I would want one with a loop so I'd pretty much have to go new.

I'd recommend some anti-itch medication then, until you know what. :)
