I have a dilemma.....(Cab content)

I turned up the volume on my Vh4 today (master at 9:30) channel volume at 11:00 (SHIT THAT WAS LOUD )

anyways, the cab DID NOT sound good.... there was fizz, the speakers where can of rattling and the low end was flubby, I KNOW it's not the amp.... as a matter of fact this cab was really cheap (300 euros) and has V30s.... I'm not sure if those V30s are REAL v30s or if the wood on the cab sucks that much, but there's something NOT right about it. Also it's one of those "open back/closed back" cab, and that means it's got a "removable" part in the back so you can make it 3/4 open back.....prob. that's also a prob.

Now my dilemma is..... should I sell it and order one of the new 2x12 cabs, or maybe buy new speakers? I don't know what to do, I'm not very experienced with cabs and/or speakers.

how much are the new Diezel 2x12 going for? and when can they be ordered? I'm not enjoyingmy rig that much because of this......

(I'm almost 100% sure this has to do with the fizz/mush I get while recording my amps... I have to set the mic in unconventional ways to get a decent sound and it's buggin' me.

so what do you say?

Olaf?

These as real V30 as they can get. I have the same cab - remember? :) (now it has a G12K instead of one of the 30s).
Did you try to change the Presence, Deep, Treble, Bass, etc when increasing the volume that much? This usually makes a difference, since the tone changes a lot when you increase the volume that much. Next - are you sure that there's nothing else that might be causing the rattling (I had a guitar case lock that was rattling and got captured on few recordings, before I got it) :).

Wood used is rather on the thin side and this cab will not handle that much low end as a Diezel (Mesa, Marshall, Orange, etc :) ). But certainly is a very nice one for the money.

Niki

P.S. I am selling it now to get a Diezel 4x12" :) I just decided that I'll get a 4x12" (to test the neighbors and the windows :) :gethim: ), nothing wrong with this one.

Yeah, I played with the settings..... and I'm telling you, maybe it's mine that's f-up, but this thing didn't sound good AT ALL.... I could hear the rattling in the speaker a little chainsaw when I hit a note with some distortion.

and it's TOO flubby...the bass controls were: deep 9:00 and channel Bass at 9:00 and it was still too bass heavy.

with clean guitars and slighty overdriven tones sounds quite nice actually, but as soon set the gain at 11:00 the thing sounds bad. I've never played this particular cab at that volume before so I hadn't noticed, but with this sound it's ungigable, honestly.

I'm running my Herbert with 3 different Mesa cabs loaded with V30s and I've got no problem at stage volume. The speakers/cab can handle everything the Herbert throws at it and I've got massive low end with no flub or farting. I've had other cabs in the past that sounded good at lower volumes, but just couldn't handle the low end once the speakers started to get pushed hard. I'm not saying the Mesa cab's are the best or that's what you should get, but a well built cab does make a huge difference, even if it's loaded with the same speakers.

Get one of the new Diezel 2x12 cabs. You will NOT regret it. :D I'm ordering one here soon, gotta go dig up some shit to sell, tho.

Well with my Einstein im using a Orange 2x12 but i think im gonna upgrade to the 4x12. It sounds fantastic with this cab and it blows away the Mesa cab i used to own. Orange or Diezel is the direction id go if i were you bro

Buy a good cabinet, you will not regret it. Cabinet is a very important & underrated part of the sound.

I run the VH4 with everything pretty much at noon, much louder volume then you've tried & have no problem doing it with Bogner cabs & it sounds great.

how much are the new 2x12?

Not sure about the 2x12, but the 4x12 is around 1k Euro iirc. Should give you an indication as to the price of the 2x12. Having said that, and having tested both in Dillingen, I would say the 2x12 fl V30 is a great cab. Peter outdid himself on that one. I decided to get the 4x12 at the end of the day (and I was literary there for a day!) because of the fact that it moves more air - for lack of a better phrase, but rest asured (sp?) that those new 2x12's are nothing short of brilliant! I revisited Peter a few weeks later with our very own Jaymz82 who bought a 4x12 that day and I know he was torn like hell between the 4x12 and the 2x12 also. :)

Now you are putting my poor self in my old dilemma 4x12 or 2x12.
But I will be sticking to the 4x12" choice. If it proofs to be an overkill I always can downgrade :)

It's not much of a difference with the new cabs, cos the 2x12's are oversized, but it is a difference. Both sound awesome. :)

You are not helping me much with this :gethim:

(in wait for Peter S. to return)

Oh, I can even beat that: Wait for the all-new cabs with the "special" speakers that are coming out...they'll blow your lights out. Tested the proto last year...man, it's 09 already...and that was something different...

hey Scott when will we be able to buy the new cabs.... the new ones with regular speakers and the new ones with the NEW speakers?

because I think I just found a buyer for my cab..... don't wanna be a whole month or more without playing :(

Hey man, afaik you can already buy the new cabs with the regular speakers, but I'm sure either Peter could confirm/deny that. You may wanna ask Peter S. about ordering one, or about availability of the new speakers, possibly directly thru him.
I bought my cab last year directly in Dillingen. :)

I love my Bogner cab. It slays my old Mesa 4x12 and utterly ruins the Mesa 2x12 I had. I say buy a high end cab.

I am taking orders now for the new cabs, They will be here VERY soon. We want to know how many we need to make for this initial run so nobody gets left out.

I will be posting pricing on everything here in the states shortly with all the new products and such. Be on the lookout for it and more.
