I went to Fazio's in St. Louis over lunch for shits and giggles. Strolled in there without any intention of buying anything other than four pots for my '71 LP. Wanted to try the Suhr Badger, so I picked up a K-Line strat that has a relic'ed black finish and real dark rosewood fretboard. HOLY COW! That guitar is freaking awesome! The setup was unreal. The tones from the pickups (I'm told they're Lollars) were killer. The body was resonant and punchy at the same time. The thing is light and play AWESOME.

So yeah, I bought it. Man, my wife is going to KILL me. I shouldn't be spending money on anything right now with the new house and stuff. Oh man, lookout... I think I'll keep this one secret for as long as possible. Yikes...

Another amazing thing is that the vintage style trem stays in tune perfectly, which I've never experienced before. I'll see if I can find a pic on the K-line site.

Chris
I love Relic'd Strats!!! Pics!!! Good luck with Wifey!!!

I know Im not the best person to give advice because I spend money like crazy and then worry about the repercussions later but let me say that you did the right thing :D
It is my opinion that great sounding guitars are too few and far between. if this sucker had "THE TONE" then you are smart for picking it up. I guarantee that you would be kicking yourself in the ass for many years to come had you not dropped the cash. I'll take the heat for ya!! Feel free to blame the purchase on me and you can have the Mrs. call me :hys:

After 32 years of marital bliss my only comment is you are screwed. I never buy anything that cost more than 50 bucks without checking. But what do I know. I stay clear of music stores as a rule. I have around 16 or so guitars at the time so I don't lack for nice axes to play. Enjoy the Strat they rock.

Historic LP's and Reliced Strats, sounds like you have all the bases covered congrats

Those K-Lines do look sweet and I was thinking about grabbing one a little while ago, but man...., I have ENOUGH guitars at this point... Good for you man!

Looks like you're going to be renting Sandra Bullock movies for the next 6 months.

Damn, Ralph is the devil!

I would figure out what in turn could be sold to release the guilt.

I feel bad for your Gibsons, a great Strat will soon rule the roost. Mine hasn't left my hand since christmas. No wonder so many great guitarist play strats they are just the perfect design for a mulitiple of tone and types of music from country to jazz to hard core metal. After owning three great Strats over the years I am very happy for you. Dig in deep cause there is no end to what it holds for you and your music.

Pics or I call your house acting like Im from Fozies asking your wife how youl like your new guitar. :D

I'm racing home after work to load the car, then racing out to he gig. If I can find straplock buttons, I'll throw them in the car and install them before we play. But yeah, I'm not taking the new guitar in after work, that's for sure. :)

There's your out. If she notices it, just tell her that somebody in the audience gave it to you as a gift because you guys kicked SO MUCH butt that it was the least they could do. Let her know that they *might* also give you another one... just in case, you know?

Ya and that money missing from the bank account was just for gas and drinks.

K-Line builds a great guitar. Quite affordable to boot. Once my wife gets off maternity leave, I may comission him to built me a Sherwood green Esquire with a "Closet Classic" finish. The Badger....meh....Too many people jumping on the power scaling band wagon.

LOL! I broke down today and told her. The funny things was that she already knew by looking at online bank statement and she wasn't the least bit mad. My wife is FAR from perfect, but one of the best things about her is that she doesn't throw a fit over gear purchases, me playing out alot, etc... Gotta love that!

Couldn't ask for much more IMO, that's awesome.

Good crunchy rock tones on the bridge pickup?? Are those the "stock" pickups in those strats?
