I found Tom Peck and his company , Pedal-Racks, on the web awhile ago. The site is http://www.pedalboards.com/ . I was going to have him build me a board but I ended up having something that worked perfectly already. Ive always been a stickler for a good pedalboard setup for a variety of reasons; protecting my pedals, making setup and tear down as fast and simple as possible and something that would let me worry more about playing than tap dancing.

Ive always designed my rig to be modular if you will; something that is already 95% put together and could be up and running or packed up in under 5 min. It took a couple of design changes to do it but Im there now and its friggin awesome!!!

First off , let me tell you what Tom custom built for me. On my pedal board, Im running an X2 wireless receiver>Boss Tu-2> EB VP jr>Vox wah> Banshee talk box. theres also an Axxess MFC-5 Midi controller to change presets.

The wireless, tuner and Wah run on 9vdc but the Banshee runs on 9vac. So I had to have a One spot for the dc and a transformer for the ac hooked up to an extension cord like most people. Ive never liked that because alot of times, its hard to find power at the the front of the stage and I hate having more cables than I need anywhere.

I saw on Tom's site that he made custom power supplies to do just that; remove the transformers from the board and have them back at the amp, just what I was looking for!!! So I gave him a call, we discussed it and last Friday, I got the unit in the mail and its the friggin goods!!!

Tom installed the 2 transformers in a virtually indestructable cast box. The box has a locking XLR socket on it and its roughly 2x2x3. Theres also a power cord to plug into the 120v; I had mine prewired but he also does it IEC if you want that. He then made up a custom 25ft snake that has a Neutrick Multipin connector on the amp end and 2 pig tails for the Ac and the Dc at the board end. The workmanship is beautiful but the best part is that the whole thing was well under 100 bucks!!! I contacted several rack builders and they quoted over 400 , crazy!!!

Now heres the cool thing; The power cable is getting put together in a snake with my midi cable and my signal cable. When gig time comes, I open the back of my rack, take the snake out , run it to my board and hook up signal, midi and power. Then I plug the rack into the 120 and the cab into the amp, turn the amp on wail when everyone is still carrying in gear. At the end of the night, Im packed and on to cocktails when everyone else is still breaking down, cool l stuff...

Tom is a great guy and gigs with one of Long Islands longest running bar bands so he knows his stuff. He builds all kinds of custom pedalboards to your specs at very reasonable prices in addition to building custome bypass strips, power supplies and accessories. If youre looking for a great custom board, this is your first and last stop IMO..

Will do Tom , though its pretty simple, just a box and a cable. With the power coming from the backline, I can literally chuck the pedalboard anywhere without worries...

That sounds very cool, Kage! Pics or it didn't happen! :gethim:
:hys:

I love gearporn of all kinds of custom rigs.
I hear ya but mine isnt Crazy custom at all and when it finally gets put together ( which will be very soon) youll see that its actually pretty simple but really functional and that was my goal..

Kage my bud!

Get those pics up!

I hate plugging things in before a gig so I got my rack to a point where I can have it setup in a couple of minutes

The snake you're referring to, is it one of those tubular thingies with separate cables in it ?

Also, don't you hear midi clicking through the amp or don't you use midicontrollers ?

I'm kinda in the same boat; I even bought a used but still expensive Socapex multiconnector to plug into a break-out box on my board but I never got it to work properly. I've bought a looper recently so now all my "in front fx" are back in the rack. Maybe I should give it another try

Its a great feeling isnt it!!!

Im actually using a different rig for a while, purely because i tweaked it to sound killer and it takes no more than 3-4mins to setup or pack away. Its like this:

Guitar --> Boss GT-8 --> Peavey Classic 60/60 poweramp --> Marshall 4x12 cab or two 2x12 cabs.

To be honest, its got me away from woryying about the gear/tone and got me way back into concentrating on my playing!!
