I know nothing of rigs. I have played through combo amps ( I believe that's what they are called just an amp with a built in 1x12 or 2x12 like fender hotrods) my entire guitar adventure. I am soon buying a VH4. Can you tell me or link to me info on everything I need to know about heads and cabs? Like I don't know what 4 8 and 16 ohms means. What wet and dry. I don't know any of the technical stuff. What are the most important things?

I know haha uber noob! But I am willing to learn.. I would use google haha but I am not sure how to search this. Plus I trust you guys haha

you need a head a cab and SPEAKER CABLE to connect them NOT instrument cable. As far as Ohmage goes just match up the output on the amp to the input on the cab...16 to 16 8 to 8 etc. that's the bare essentials.

Go to the Diezel website and download a VH4 manual and start studying.

Alright! Sounds good! What does wet and dry mean when it comes to guitar amps?

Wet dry wet rig involves the use of more than one amp... so you can run for example your dry or clean signal into some cabs and the wet (signal with effects) to other cabs. It is a more advanced setup.

With regards to Ohms that is the impedance of the cab, you don't have to worry as all amps have impedance selectors. So you make sure to match the cabs ohms to the amp speaker output. Regarding the VH4, not to be mean but it might be a little overkill as your first head, considering all the independent channels, Midi (which you probably won't use) , various fx loops parallel and serial, etc etc

If you are planning on playing a simple setup there are lots of other amps that can get you there for a lot less money... Diezel included ( Einstein is a great amp )

You can use an instrument cable, it won't damage anything...

wet: guitar + amp + effects
dry: guitar + amp

combo = amp (head) + separated cabinet, which you have to connect with a cable. use a speaker cable.

amp ohm = cabinet ohm. (if that is not possible: amp ohm less than cabinet ohm, NOT the other way round)

on amp head you have three modes:
- off (both switches off)
- standby (power switch on, standby switch to standby (off))
- on (power switch on, standby switch to run (on))
don't run amp (on), when cabinet is not connected. standby is ok.

these ohm-things and "do-not-run-amp-while"-rules are crucial to give your amp a long life.

these are the main things...the rest you will get by studying the web, manuals etc. if you want a vh4, take it. you will learn as you go.

Oh yeah! I know the power stuff as I have had tube amps before. I let it warm up for 5 mins with stand by on then I will play haha!

Oh trust me I will get the vh4! Some people say its too much as my first head but its the head I know I want. So therefore I will not waste money on shit I don't want! Thanks for the support man! So I will take it hardcore!
