Yeah it sucks. It could be one thing which I'm going to try before next practice.

I had a 5150 cabinet that I loved, then i thought I blew it. I took the back off and saw it had a piece of wood in the center of the 4 speakers, attached at the front, that extended to the back of the cabinet. I realized it was pretty tight against the back BUT NOT attached. I thought it may have been the wood vibrating against each other. Sure enough I measured it out and drilled a large 4 inch wood screw into the back and it NEVER "farted out" again. The bass was BEYOND tight.

I'm am PRAYING that this is the same issue occuring again. My band plays REALLY loud (the Herbert on channel 3 is at around 2 o'clock for the channel volume and about the same for the master volume). When I palm mute its has started going "BRRRRPHHHH BRPPHHHHH". What's really odd is it isn't the bass that seems to trigger it, it's the Mids. When I back the mids down to around 10 o'clock it goes away, even if I push the bass up and the deep knob as well. As soon as those mids go past noon, around 1-2ish it starts getting REALLY bad.

Anyone else have a problem such as this? I really hate to say it, but I think my Orange cabinet sounds better, I CRANK it and it never farts and the bass is insane. I recently took the back off of the Orange and was suprised to see it DOES NOT have that middle peice of wood in it, first cab I've seen that doesn't infact.

It's sort of disappointing, I paid a good bit more for the Diezel thinking it would be the ulimate cabinet, especially with the Herbert (I love the herbert BTW ;) )

Thank you Peter for the fast reply. If it isn't what I think it is, I will call him Monday.

Your support is unreal!

I couldn't imagine having a problem with a Marshall and getting a response back from Jim.....

:D

Be cautious! Jim Marshall is an untouchable God!!!

It was all his fault! :worship: Worship him, everytime you go to bed! :gethim:

Does your cab have the middle piece of wood in the middle that is not srewed from the back side?

Do you have the front loaded or rearload and what speakers?

I'm not sure about the first question...I'll find out Monday when I go back to the band room. I'm guessing (and hoping) this is the problem, it's an easy fix.

The speakers are rear loaded.

I had also had a problem before with the 5150 cabinet rattling and it turned out their was so much bass occuring the screws holding the speakesrs slowly started backing out on the bottom two speakers! They were almost a half inch out when I took the back off, tightened em up and been good since then.

These are all things I'm going to look into when I check out the cab on Monday. I'll post what I find....
