I Think I Want To Trade My E-Rect Mod...

I'm a Mesa fan and have played and owned many Mesa amps. I'm not sure I "get" the E-Rect mod though. It's a nice mod but to my ears, has less gain on tap than the EG5 and so it's not going to do what I had hoped.

So... I'll leave my Mesa tones to my Mesa amps and try something else.

Let me know if you're interested in a trade. This mod has less than 2 hours on it. It's in flawless condition. I'd like the same back in a trade. I'm interested in the EG3/4, SL2, VX and COD in that order.

Thanks.

Dave

Dave, just FYI SL2 has less gain than E-Rect and EG3/4 even less than that. Not sure if youre looking to replace the E-Rect with something for high gain, but as youve probably found, the only mod with more gain is EG5.

I hear you. I just figure I'd try something else. It's funny. At first, I didn't dig the EG5. But now I use it 99% of the time. I'm glad I kept the MHG because it's exactly what I'd hoped it would be. A dark high-gain mod. But I've been around Mesas ALOT. The Erect is a nice mod but I wanted it to be a Rectifier tone and for me, it's just not what I'd hoped for. That said, it's a good mod. I played it again today and thought: "Hmm. Maybe I'll hang on to this one." It has a ton of low end and it's not muddy at all. In that regard, it's better than a Recto. :)

But I hear so much about the EG3/4 that I regret selling it your other guitarist. :D

If I do end up trading the Erect, I'm not looking to substitute it with another high-gain mod. I'd like another tone altogether which is why I'm looking at SL2, EG3/4, VX or COD. I think my high-gain needs are covered with the EG5 and MHG.

BTW, my Emi Gov's are starting to break-in in my CAA cubes and I'm hearing some good stuff from the M4 in general.

That'll work...it's cleaner and quieter too

How would you say the MHG compares to the erect and eg5? I love the erect but don't use super saturated gain either. I didn't bond with the eg5 the way it was love at first sound with the other modules, but I'm thinking I might like the MHG.

In my opinion, the Erect has less gain than both the EG5 and MHG. I typically run the gain dimed on both channels of the Erect and get the same saturation on the other 2 mods by running the gain at 3:00.

The EG5 is brighter and bit more scooped than the MHG. But I've found that the tone controls on the Egnater stuff are so sensitive and have such a wide dynamic range that you could probably get the EG5 and MHG to sound the same if you had to.
