I think I'm finally getting close - another CH3 take

It's funny, every time I find some different combination of power tubes by accident that sounds great. Now I have 2 SED EL34s, 2 JJ E34Ls & 2 JJ EL34s & it's like getting the best of all 3. It's actually pretty awesome!
Peter, if you're reading this, please make all the new amps with ability to bias each pair individually like Herbert.

I always thought my CH3 recordings were too compressed & didn't sound quite right in the mix. I think I'm getting very close to fixing that problem.

I need to get my recording rig set back up. At least I got the Digi 03 rack going again. So, I may mic up and record some chops.

There is no missing that guitar tone in the mix. It's in your face but nicely placed.
 
It's pretty good, but I'm still missing some wideness to the sound. I've gotta work on that when I find time for it.

Dude, you buy so many amps one after the other that you hardly have time to try them :lol: :LOL: Try using the equipment you have first, before gearing up your rig more.

Have you ever tried putting your amp in a long hallway? I was messing with that the other day. Stuck a cab in the closet, in the hallway. With a couple mics on the speakers and an ambient condenser mic with the right pattern down the hall - this can really widen you up....

We did it in 1985 when we had no effect units.

The singer was recorded in a stairshall.

ha! unfortunately I don't have that luxury. I'm stuck inside of an isobox. I'm sure it would sound just right if I could mic it in a decent sized room, but my neighbours love me, you know :D
