I saw where Ibanez released a pair of 25th anniversary guitars - one in flourescent pink and one in flourescent yellow. I'm a sucker for gaudy 80's guitars. I want one of each. At $899, I may have to consider at least one of them... Looks like I'll be calling my Sweetwater rep to see if they are carrying them and what he can do for me...

Man o man! That pink one...

If you threw some orange humbuckers, yellow knobs, green switch tip, and geen Dimarzio clip lock, it would be pure sex.

I wish they were Japanese made. Slightly disappointed in Indian made Anniversary editions. :aww:

I want to play one and see. If it plays and feels like an RG should, I'm in. My Sweetwater rep got back to me and quoted $829 plus tax. Not bad considering...

P.S. I love the guitar in your avatar...

I would like to try one too. What really turns me off, it sounds stupid, but the 'PREMIUM IBANEZ' logo looks cheap to me. But I'm also the guy that got pissed when the Prestige line came out and they took away my Ibanez "swoosh".  In the end playability is the key.

Thanks for noticing the avatar, she's my baby. I don't play her nearly often enough. It's an RRG6LY, run of 6 for Rock Inn Japan. I started a thread with better pics, if you care to look.

That guitar is awesome. I'd love to have something similar, but would probably not play it for fear of damaging the value. I have an RG770DX reissue that I love. I talked to my Sweetwater Sales Rep and he said the anniversary models are built in an identical manner to the J-Craft guitars and should be similar in quality and playability. If he's correct and they are anything like my RG770, it's a steal at under $900. He has several scheduled to be delivered in the next week or so and I plan to get a close-up look. If they have the typical Ibanez fit & finish, I'm planning on grabbing at least one. Would love to have one of each...

I have the RG770DX reissue as well. Same as your avatar, Ruby Red. It is really one of my favorites, still love those pickups. The maple board and shark inlays seal it as awesome, in my book.

They are sooo 80's and, therefore, soooo awesome  Some day I'll grow up.... Yeah, well, probably not.

I'm with you there, love the 80's, the guitars, the tones, the music... I could do without the painted on pants.  My first "real" guitar was the JEM77FP. I had a couple Corts and a cheap Ibanez, but saved up my money for that one. I loved Steve in DLR.

I appreciate all kinds of music, but always gravitate to the 80's stuff when I need a fix

Agree with that too, I'll listen to anything musical. I think every generation will gravitate to what they grew up on and what got them into music.

I played one about 2 hours ago at GC. I havnt payed much attention to the RG series in awhile so I can't really compare it to the other rg's, but I thought it was a solid axe. All the strings ring out nicely and the tremelo was very stable. I thought it was solid. The pickup configuration gives alot of flexibility and the fretboard was very nice and easy to play on.

My biggest fear is the tremolo. It comes with the Edge Zero 2. I can't say it's bad because I have never played it, but that's the biggest reason I'd like to play one before I bought one. I'm not in the market for a new guitar now, but I would like to try one out.

Don't worry about the premium line. Everyone I have played, plays like the prestiges that I have played, maybe better. Rich from Ibanez Rules said he thinks these play better than the rg550 anniversary reissues. These two don't do it for me, but the great thing is, they are releasing two different ones every quarter, so it will be cool to see what else they reissue. Here's hoping for a 3120, or maybe something with a maple board.

Man, I keep hearing how great the premiums are. I must of had a dud because the one I played was horid  I also can't get over the whole veneer top thing either.

Not a fan of the veneer top either, but understand it as a cost cutting measure. It will be cool to see what else they go with for the anniversary.

I wonder who has the scoop on what will be released for each quarter. Those two guitars are awesome (in my humble 80's lovin' opinion :D ), but it would be nice to know what else was coming out. I would definitely prefer a mable board. I might hold on a purchase until I see what Ibanez has up it's sleeve...
