Hi,
have anyone experience with this sevenstring guitar?
I am looking now for sevenstring guitar, and as I found out, this one should be one of the best.

Any advise is welcome

All the Best

it's a nice axe, plays well and makes the 6 to 7 strings switch easy.

However, the pups aren't very good unless you play smooth rock (they,re really not tight or anywhere close to medium output) , but you can always change 'em (but the spacing isn't standard so it's a mess) and the ibanez tremolo bar well.... I won't rant on that ;p

IMO, I'd check out with a luthier if you can have a 7 built, might cost you around the same price, for something with better wood etc. But if you dig the UV, just get it, as I said, it's a nice lil axe.

EDIT: Thru a Diezel, it will sound killer

Oh, thanks a lot,
the note about tremolo s interesting, by the way, I thought to.

Yes, one of the plus for me, is the thin neck, so it will be easyer to change between 6 to 7 string.

Do you have experience with Scheckter 7 string guitars? Like Hellraiser or ozhers?
Any compareison with Universe will be fine.

All the best

Nah, never tried any other "regular" 7 strings, except another ibanez the cheapest one) which was a long time ago. I don,t remember to have played any schecter at all but I doubt i'd be a fan (EMGs are not for me)

I have a 7 string custom RR, and the neck is fairly thick, but it still plays easily for me. My other 7 string is a gibson V copy, and the neck is thinner than gibby and easy to shred on.

But TBH I don't care about the size of necks (except some PRS, too thick and painted neck I dislike) as long as it sounds good... My hands gets used to any guitar. I might be lucky for this

You'd be better to go try every 7 strings out.

I've got a Schecter 7 string with EMGs, and while I don't really care for the EMGs for any kind of soloing except really quick metal stuff, they're not that bad. It really depends on what you're gong for, but I think the Schecters are at least worth looking at. I doubt they compare to a UV7 in quality though...

I have the original Universe, 7PWH I think might be the model number? The thing plays great but as somebody already stated, the pickups do really suck. I've never gotten around to swapping them out since 7 string definitely isn't something I play much but a friend of mine who has the same exact model has tried a few different ones and he felt the tone still sucked. It's his opinion that it might be the ibanez floyd causing the tone suckage. :scared: It's definitely a killer player though.

Oh, thanks,

it seems to, that I´ll give more money out and will buy the Music Man Petrucci sevenstring.
It should be much better guitar that this Ibanez, am I right? :)

Music Man Petrucci sevenstring

It is a very nice guitar! I had one of the Ball Family Reserve models last year and I really liked it! I ended up getting some very good coin for it and decided to move it in favor of one of my J-Customs which is a much nicer axe to play.

Yes!!! MUCH better guitar...The Music Man is superior in quality and sound. And plays like a dream!

To a regular Ibanez, yes, no question. To a Prestige Ibanez, I'd say the MM is still a much better guitar as well, especially in the area of a 7 stringer.

To a J-Custom Ibanez, forget it. Not even close.
I've owned no less than 3 Petrucci MMs, a Luke as well as a couple of BFR MMs. The BFR models are on par with the Ibanez J-Customs. Both are sweet guitars. I'm just not as much a fan of the smaller necks/bodies on the EBMM guitars. Great company though, they make excellent products and stand by what they build.

Really? I'd really like to try a J-Custom then...however, I love my Petrucci MM and the neck/body, and I just got tired of dealing with floating bridges...do they make a J-Custom 7-string without a floating bridge?

I've got an Ibanez RG2077XL (discontiuned) and my guitarist has an LTD Stephen Carpenter sig, that's all I can compare/all I've played in the way of 7s and the Ibanez has a thinner neck and completley different sound, the SC has active EMGs aswell which I quite like acctually, the necks also fatter and it gives it a completley different feel, also it's a neck thru and on the higher frets the back of the necks quite nice to play as opposed to having the bolt on get in your way like on the Ibanez.

Hope that helps, that's all I can add to the discussion.

Sadly, no J-custom 7 with a fixed bridge.....finding a J-Custom 7 is pretty much a rarety as it is! Your EBMM is a fantastic guitar! If you can ever grab one of the BFR models, they are amazing as well ! I usually block the back of my trem's so they don't float but the new bridge that Ibanez has actually does a very solid job of keeping it in tune even when I break a string live. Happened about 3 months ago and I was surprised. Was able to finish the tune out for the set without any issues.

Weird, I've always despised my floating bridge guitars I've had in the past for that very reason (breaking a string). And I suppose that naturally, they just don't resonate as well as a fixed bridge and I just got tired of compromising cause I stopped using the whammy bar, and I figured I'd might as well get a non-floating bridge instead of blocking the trem...and I've loved my tone ever since! I'm not sure I'll ever go back to Ibanez's unless there's a high-quality model without a floating bridge. And MAN are those things a pain to change strings and adjust tunings with...not worth it in my opinion

Anyway, the BFR models look amazing but I've never gotten my hands on one to play yet. I'll keep my eyes open.

Thanks bro

So at the end, I bought Schecter Loomis signature sevenstring with floydrose :D

I bought it via ebay, without trying out. So I hope, I did right.
