It's a mod done on a 71 Marshall Superlead. Modded to have a footswitchable clean channel and tube effects loop and that's about all I know. One hole on front is for the footswitch. On the back looks like there's a knob labelled 'preamp intensity' and one called 'power amp master'.

Did you post this on the Metro forum?
You'd probably find a whole lot of responses there

I'm not on that forum, maybe I'll sign up though, thanks!

Looks like a Lee Jackson mod to me.

I am not sure about that. Lee pretty much offered a standard set of mods and labeled everything with one of those cheap label makers. Plus he pretty much hid component values.

Tube placement looks like Lee Jackson's handywork IMO.

Lee hacked up many an amp.

- Tube Effects Loop w/send and return pots.

2- Hi Gain extra Tube Mod, that has it's own "Lead Master" Pot. This channels sounds incredable {think John Sykes} but sqweels like a pig when turned up to jamming volume.

3- A push pull pot that (I think) switches between the original 1 and 2 inputs circuits
(1 treble, 2 Less treble) with a Master Volume for that Mod.
** A Footswitch to switch between the Lead and the Cleaner Push/Pull "Channels"**

4- A Preamp Intensity Pot.

5- A Power Amp Master Pot.

6- A Mid Shift stepped Pot.

I think #4 and #5 might be an attempt at a Power Scale circuit but are not working (or at least not changing much or anything tonally or volume wise)
But I do get blue sparks out of the 1st Power Amp tube when I hit a certain spot on the Preamp Intensity Pot (#4) NOTE: The Power Amp Master Pot has to be dimed for the sparks to happen.
I know that this is NOT a good thing!

The stepped mid shift and tube placement sounds like Lee Jackson to me...

I don't think it's a Jackson but maybe. Might be an old Rick Onslow mod

It's funny that lots of people are critical of Lee's work, but he modded the Marshalls that were used to record under lock and key which everyone goes biserk for. I know just a part of the recipe on the recording, but everyone raves about the tone on that album and Casswell gets credit for it.  He just toured with the SIR amp.

I have owned an old lee Jackson modded Superlead with the added tub and 2nd master volume that kills many of the Marshall mods that guys here are constantly jerkin off to. I believe zakat wylde used lee modded Marshall's with ozzy yrs back.

Along with Paul Gilbert, George Lynch, and Akira Takisaki. Akira's tone on the "Lightning Strikes" album is awesome and that's a Lee Jackson mod.

Yeah well I gigged with a stock 79' JMP 2204 from 82' t0 91' with pedals, an occasional Rockman & Treble booster and did fine but many times wish I had 100 watts at outside venues.

Things were different in the 80's. Not as much marketing, more word of mouth and who you know as far as mods.

Vai's JMP on "Eat em & smile" was L. Jackson modded and fucking Awesome IMO.
