If both were the same price.. Tweaker vs Rebel 20?

So I was up at GC tonight checking out a new low power amp. They had the Tweaker (new) and a used Rebel 20 head for the same price as the Tweaker. They both sound great but I'm wondering about versitility. I know neither have a footswitch so I would probably need to use the clean channel with a distortion pedal.. with that in mind.. what would you choose and why? I'm trying to get over the two channel thing as that's what I've always had.

I think in pure functionality, the tweaker is designed to be much more versatile.

I'd go with the Tweaker, really really impressive tonal variety.

the rebel 20 cleans up well with a volume knob, tweaker sounds great and is versatile, but if you want to go from clean to heavy distortion, you have to flip a switch or 3-4, turn the gain way down, and crank the volume-a bit of a pain.

This is what I was thinking. I think the Tweaker is great for recording.. or if you only play say the blues. But if you like to play a set list of covers.. I think it would be impossible with the Tweaker as you'll have to turn knobs all the time to switch your sound. Maybe I'm missing something though.. so correct me if I'm wrong.

You could just go with the Rebel 30 which has 2 channels?

No, I think you're about right on in your assessment. Unless you only need one tone for each song...then you could "tweak" the tweaker (har har) between songs to prep you for the next one, but even that could become cumbersome quickly.

If you're looking for a more 'giggable' amp, I'd go with the 20. Well really, I'd go with the 30 :D but that's another discussion...

fwiw- I went with a renegade combo.

I've been wanting to try one of those too.. get great reviews.. but I think it's just going to be too much amp for what I'll do with it. I spend 90% of the time just playing in the basement of my house.. Even at 18w I think it would be ripping. And I doubt I'd ever need the 45 watts. But may have to give it a shot anyway.

How do you like it?

I play the amp quite a bit at home, it actually does low volume quite well. I always run it at 65 watts strange enough.

Between the rebel and tweaker for me. The tweaker wins out hands down. I think the tones are much more useful and the amp just so uinds sonically better and better voiced IMHO. The amp with a bb preamp is a great addition to make a 2 channel amp.
