If Egnater made a non-modular amp again.

What would it be like?

I'm thinking:

face would llook like a black IE-4 with creme knobs.

CH-1 = Twin
CH-2 = Edge
CH-3 = Dimartini
CH-4 = sonic Meltdown

Stereo power amp. two 6550's per side.

$4,295 MSRP :aww:

I almost don't see the point of making a non-modular amp again, since with this design every possible response that you can find would actually be able to come true without any compromises for that particular player. Put an m4 and you have 8 channels, that's awesome power. For me, I just say keep on making new modules or add ons/updates (power amps, tube mix, power scaling, mic eliminators etc..).

To play along though, I'd say:

1- DLX
2- VX
3- EG3/4
4- Erect

but then I'm cheating, because each has two channels so it's really an 8 channel amp. For the VX I wouldn't be able to chose which channel I like better, so maybe, it'd be this:

1-DLX A
2- Vx A
3- VX B
4- EG3

I still got to get my hands on a bman and sl, heard nothing but good things about those. You know what, I'm so used to the modular concept anything else just seems way too restricting, I'm even having a hard time trying to have to narrow it down

I'd like to see an updated TOL series amp. Mentoneman's clips on Youtube are the shiz. Granted he is running the W/D/W rig from hell. Still some the best tone I've come across on the web.

EDIT- then I realize that this = the MOD series. *sigh*

broknstuff and Jmgman69.

Have you guys ever played a non-Rocktron IE-4 or Mica TOL 100 ?

If not, then you can't understand the way I feel about those vs. the Mod stuff.

Obviously, the Mod stuff is the best going right now, but there is an undeniable magic and mojo in my IE-4 that my EG 3/4-equipped M4 doesn't have.

It's a different amp, and a different feel.

I hope you get to play one someday, if you haven't. They are from another world.

I liked them very much but I find I'm getting the tones I'm after right now, although I had a Single channel EG3 that had that mojo but I sold it

The only magic item I remember selling was a mint Mesa Thiele EVM12L 1x12 that just sounded perfect with a mic thrown in front of it. It didn't matter where the mic was. It didn't matter which amp I used, or how the amp was set. It was magical.

I haven't been able to coax that same tone yet, even out of other EV-equipped TL806 parameter cabs. :(

I definitely shouldn't have sold that cab. I had to pay the rent though.

nope I haven't played the old egnater stuff, I'm sure it sounds killer, I'm just so varied with what I want on a weekly basis thatw the mod series gives me tone, feel and piece of mind, as well as quenching gas (well, at least for other companies...instead I have modular-gas).

This tread is why we developed the modular line. How many versions and pre amp styles would we have to make to satisfy everyone? We were tired of modifying our TOL amps to personal taste and others amps so we just took out the most logical variable, the pre amp.
For example look at the Suhr amp line. How many versions of his OD 100 does he have to make to sell amps? Each all taylored one way or another but when looking at production ability, cost and long term viability, our modular designs make the most sense. Even if the module is not perfect for you it can be modified to your taste. Example EG3/4! (The great wife husband battle of 2008 between Gene and Eric) HA!

+1. One of my favorites.

Okay you guys are gonna laff but here goes. I wish Egnater would make an amp like the old Crate V30. It's my back up amp.

1. light weight
2. small
3. 2 channels, nothing complicated

In fact, this is more what I was hoping the Renegade would be, but alas the prototype looks to be in fact to be the same size as a MOD50, and I'm going to assume about the same weight, not light anyway. Okay that's cool but, I was hoping for the Renegade to be small light, easily transportable 50 watt head. Sort of half way between a Rebel and the MOD50/Current Renegade format.

Oh well, go ahead ... flame me.
