if i sell my mod50....

i've got one guy whos interested. I live in canada, so you get nailed on the import fees pretty good. I'm sure I will get what I paid for it, or a bit more due to the shitty canadian dollar, and the import fees.

Actually since it is made in the US the import fees, and duty will be very small should be under $50 as long as you ship with Canada post. I have shipped many amps, and a few guitars to the states, and it worked out very good. I have also brought in probably a few to many amps from the states.

If you have someone in the US interested in your amp they can call their local customs office, and they will look up the code, and figure out how much duty should be. Here is a link to where they can get the numbers http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/ports/ One example is a Randall RM100 which is made in China will be subject to $5 handling fee, and 5% duty. If it is shipped UPS they will charge an extra $25 brokerage. Also important to note you can claim a different value then what you insure it for. Just include a receipt made out for the amount that you declare, then insure it for a bit higher. If they ask the replacement cost is higher then you sold it for.

Might as well get some extra coin from the Canadian dollar not doing so well.

That would be GST, and PST in addition to FedEx's brokerage fee.

Just a word of advice. Double box, double foam. Works every time.

Better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah, and you should always double bag it. You dont know where that amp has been! ;)

i was thinking axe fx.. but I had a rehearsal last night and I can't do it.

the egnater sounds too eff'n good when its cranked.. might as well just delete this thread, it was a lapse in sanity!!!

long live the mod50!

I know the feeling :D

i am debating getting a hotplate or something so I can crank it up, and keep the output low.. the erect sounds killer at high volume

I've been thinking of adding the Axe Fx to the M4 if only for effects.

its a sweet sounding unit for sure, my only thing is that I'd want to replace my rig with it.. to me, its overkill for the effects I use (chorus, delay, phaser) but the amp sims would have been killer..

You might want to call Kevin at London power. There might be someone in Ottawa who has experience installing power scaling. Kevin makes a kit for it. It is basically a headroom control. you can have it cranked to the point of power tube distortion at very quiet levels, and it extends tube life. I have been wanting to install one of his kits in an amp for quite a while now. Here is his web site. Kevin is a great guy to deal with

i'm looking at a faustine phantom:

After reading about attenuators I think that power scaling is a better option since it makes it easier on your tubes, and transformers. Also since the kit for power scaling is either $78, or $156 CAD as long as install is not too bad it should be less then an attenuator.
