I have an opportunity to buy a used Marshall 1960A cab loaded with Greenbacks for the same price as a new Eggie TM 412 with V30s. Which would you pick?
I said the Eggie since it would look cool with his Renegade! You can always replace speakers! That being said, usually Bruce's amps work pretty well with V30's. I don't normally care for them either, but worth a shot.
Course can't go wrong with the old standard Marshall 412 either! The "look" and sound of Rock!!
Thanks guys. I am going to try to play through the Marshall today to see if I like it. I've actually never played through a 412 w/Greenbacks before, so I'm not sure what to expect.
Damn, I just need more money! Ideally, I think I'd get the Eggie (so the colors match) and put Scumback M75s in, but that's a lot to lay out right now. I was thinking the Marshall with the Greenbacks might be a good substitute until I could swing the $$ for 4 Scumbacks....i.e. I could probably live with that longer than 4 V30s
Fokk - I just keep getting myself wrapped up with too many damn decisions!
I agree with Mudd here. My Marshall 412 is the BX cab with the vintage cloth and such. I think those were pretty decent, or at least mine sounds good. But the standard black 1960 cabs..........meh. That's why I like the Eggie!
