would you buy?

I currently own a Mesa F-50, and so far I like it a lot, but I really want a Diezel (either a VH4 or a Herbert) but I honestly want the most VERSATILE Diezel. I'm a songwriter/performer and the music i play is Pop-rock with bluesy fills but i play a lot of Alternative/Hard Rock/Metal with my "fun band" so i need the versatility.

any opinions/idea?

I own a Herbert, and prefer that, but for max versatility, gotta go VH4. Channel 1 - clean, Chan 2 - clean to texas grit, Chan 3 - Plexi to JCM 800, Chan 4 - high gain metal/nu metal. That should cover it.

hey itsme, thanks for the reply.

what do you like about the Herbert more than the VH4?

i believe the Herbert i also very versatile with the midcut and the posibility of saving the channel settings on a midi controller right?

but what do you like about it? i asume you A/B both when you bought the Herbert right?

i am a professional studio player and touring guitarist. i have toured with country artist like Billy Dean, Mila Mason and Matt Stillwell, to christian metal artist such as Disciple. i also have my band which is a hard rock/ progressive band. i have tried both vh-4and herbert but actually found more voices in the herbert. with the 3 channels plus gain switch on the 2nd channel plus the mid cut, it is pretty hard to beat in terms of how many ways one amp can sound. good luck on the tone search. the vh-4 sounded like itself with different gain stages, thats not a bad thing at all, its just that every channel always felt hi-fi kinda thing, may be just me.
peace

you should also try the einstein - if you like it , get the tubelit mod aswell though .

This is true too, I find Einstein doing lots of things even stock.

Damn it, just get all 3 of them :D

The Einstein will take pretty much everything you throw at it, and voiced between the VH4 and Herbert. With the footswitch mod you get, in effect, 4 channels and 2 master volumes. Don't dismiss it!

Yes, I A/B'd them. Both sounded great. To me it was a matter of feel. If an amp feels too tight, it tightens me up as a player. If it's looser, it loosens me up. The VH4 was super tight. Very precise/unforgiving. You hit a note, and it hits your ears at the same time. Made me feel a little more self-concious. If I were an extremely precise player, I would have chosen the VH4. It really highlights perfect technique. The Herbert had more of a classic feel to it. You hit a note, and it kinda flows into your ears. Made me relax more. With my band, I do get 4 different sounds out of it with a 4 button Randall RF-4 footswitch. Chan 1 - clean(no mid-cut), Chan 2 - Marshall(no mid-cut), Chan 3 - Hot Rod Marshall(no mid-cut), and Chan 4 - (Channel 3 w/mid-cut) for nu-metal type sound. It covers every thing I need. If I needed a Texas grit type of sound I could use Chan 2 in (-) mode.

I have an VH4S, a Herbert and an Einstein and I would miss each of them. It also depends on your guitar, the way you play and some more aspects.
The Herbert is my preference for humbucker-guitars, the VH4-S for strats and the Einstein is from my point of the view the most versatile amp you can get for money (and it is not that heavy... :D ). And all of them sound great!
Have a try and listen...

I tried the Herbert & VH-4 in the shop and couldn't really decide. After ages of head scratching and going back and forth my girlfriend said she preferred the Herbert so I got that one.  I still don't know whether I made the right choice but I'm very happy with it! I would quite like 4 channels sometimes but I think maybe I'm being silly and have no real regrets!
