I'm on a Nirvana kick. I'm not sure what would be a good fit.

My first thoughts:

Bman or TD + SL + LOTS OF PEDALS???

But, Kurt was using a Mesa Studio for a lot of stuff, but I can't imagine a COD sounding rough enough for this. Maybe SL2 with the mids and treble way up??

Egnater doesn't make a mega-suck mod! ;) (ducking)
Never realized that was boogie.
Not really a Nirvana fan, but.. Um... seriously... maybe the SL or SL2?

Well, some of the album stuff is Big muff into a bassman

or DS1 into a deluxe????

+ the mesa preamp

+ a sansamp pedal

etc etc etc.

Whatever Butch Vig or Steve Albini thought would sound cool?

I think any of the modules can do it with the right pedals and/or teaking of the module! Just keep the vibe and you'll be good!

Yep, Bassman. Or you could go with a distrotion pedal/fuzz into the SL.

Early stuff was the DS1 life, with some Muff on the recordings.

Then he switched to the (puke in mouth a little) Boss DS2... set on Hot Mode. Which just sounds like midrange-staticky-fuzzy-ass.
