Hey guys,

our band is currently switching to In-Ear-Monitoring.
We get the guitar signals from the loops and not from a mic in front of the amp, because this system is much more reliable when you're on stage (we have our own mixing system with cubase running in the background, changing channels, etc).
That means, that we have to use a digital speaker sim for the monitoring process (actually we're using guitar rig).
Do you have any suggestions/guitar cab simulations to make my Herbert sound more "real"?

Second question:
Which In-Ears can you recommend for guitarrists?

Thanks for incoming help :)

Seems like an unorthodox way to get a personal monitor signal. Agree with you on the mic'ing, but grab a cheap DI box and send a signal to your mixer then your IEM's through the Aux outs.

I have owned 3 different systems - the cheapest Shure, the M6 from Audio Technica and now a Sennhieser. The first two were crap. Threw the Audio Technica in the garbage. The $1000 Sennhieser is great though. The ear buds suck though. The Shure 435's are great. A worthy IEM system isn't cheap.

I've went back to using nothing :D

One thing you absolutely have to do is make sure there is some ambient audience mic's fed into your monitor mix. This will fix some of the spatial issues you get into when first using IEM's. Otherwise, you get claustrophobia of the ears.... and want to start snatching them out.

Very obvious, you need TwoNotes WOSIII.

Not only has it great sounding speaker IRs, but as well very good poweramp simulation, and your loop signal is just preamp. Feed that into WOS and you can adjust the impact of the power amp, which tubes it has etc etc.

WOSIII is free and Public Beta. You get two cabs free and a choice of mics, just take it from there. You can even buy a Diezel cab (Kerozen) for a few bucks from their online shop.

Thanks a lot guys!

I'm gonna start with the WOS first because its for free and then buy better In-Ears.
Still have to decide which I'm gonna grab.

Maybe I'll also give the Palmer PDI-09 a shot.

As always, thanks for the quick and helpful responses

Dude I have the PDI-09 and the Torpedo. The TwoNotes stuff is 2 leagues above the Palmer. Palmer is OK for a PA, but for in-ear it's too dry, no ambience at all.

Good to know.
Do you have any In-Ear-Monitors you can highly recommend?

At the moment I use my Sony Studio headphones plugged into the In-Ear of the other guitar player, we are one Aux short at the moment, so I have yet to get one.

Some compensated outs on some models
are a bit dark in this case. I would
use the speaker out for best results because
the power amp has a big influence on the Diezel amps.
Master should be low to save the power tubes if
you use a load box. I heard only good things about
the Torpedo.

Thanks Papa. I use a Einstein> 2x12 and run the comp out into a Dr Z and a 2x12 for out door shows. What is the comp out actually intended for?

Have to save some money for good in-ears first, but gonna try the torpedo after that :)

Thanks guys, you're great!

Nice to see the master himself participating on these discussions - this is awesome at this form

Sends a compensated line out signal. Feeds a mixer, recording device, used for a Wet/Dry set up, etc.
