hey there

have my mod 50 on order, I originally ordered a T/D, but I just got back from playing a mod 50 , and I loved the sl2, but I thought the Twin side on the T/D was too ice picky and bright for my particuliar taste. I enjoyed the Deluxe though.

So, what should I switch my order to? I am thinking either a Bassman or do they have just a Deluxe full module?

I appologize ahead of time to Jeff for switching my order yet again. This is what happens when i have to much time to sit and think.... You know, I personally love the cleans on the Tourmaster, maybe there will be a tourmaster clean module sometime??

Special thanks to blumuz123 for letting me try out his Egnater!!!!

Dude, the Bassman is a sweet module and it goes with the SL2 so well. They have the same tone structure. The Vox module is very nice as well. Very jangly. I think you would be very happy with the BMan/SL2 one-two punch. I mean, who wouldn't be?

I completely agree. The Bman module has a great clean tone which isn't as bright (ice picky) as the twin, and also gives enough grit to get you to that plexi type tone. Bump that up with the SL2 and you have a great set up ranging from completely clean to Slash with everything in between.

Bassman is awesome! The clean is great! So warm and round! The channel B section can get you JTM45 or early plexi tones as other have said! Great module! Should be perfect with the SL2 or even an SL.

I use with the EG5 and soon the SL2 and SL.

Bassman, Vx, and SL will have the closest EQ curve to SL2. Channel A has the most headroom in that order as well. Vx breaks up quickly with humbucks and even a moderate attack. I havent played SL but Id assume it similar if not breaks up even faster.

If you like your cleans at all clean, Bassman is really your only other option, unless you use single coils and/or have a light touch.

I rarely play with just perfect cleans, but I suppose its always nice to have that option. I am not sure I am sold on teh vox just yet, so I think i will go wtih the Bassman instead. Here comes an email jeff......

I still would love to get a tourmaster clean channel sometime, I was really impressed with it, warm, not to bright, just perfect.

I think the bassman is your ticket. However, since you never really play "totally clean" or at least very much, check into the SL. You can get quite clean with low output pickups.

yeah,

I think i will still go with the Bassman, I could get the Sl2 on a low gain setting where I like, and of course kick over to more drive on Channel B, that will cover most of my ground to start with, and the Bassman will be another choice. I will eventually get a few modules of course, but I need to get something that will cover me very well to start, and that includes a clean tone i guess

Excellent choice........I foolishly traded mine away for a T/D..... Not that the T/D is foolish obviously, it's just that I should have hung on to the bassman as it's an awesome module. You can really get that nice warm clean and that tweedy type grind man. I think you will like it.

Here is a vocal sketch I just did with some B'Man to to get a sort of Mark Knopler-ish thing. No pedals, just hitting the B channel with gain at 12 with two DiMarzio Areas pu's quacking away. All fingerstyle here to btw, so that shows how nice and articulate the B'Man is. again, apologies for my crappy singing.

John, great stuff as usual!! How do you like the Area pickups?? I've been thinking about putting a set in my SRV strat.

I have a couple of Areas on the way. 59 & 61. Can't wait. Nice stuff Johnny.

Cool man, let me know how you dig 'em. You doing the 58 neck and 61 middle?? I was thinking maybe two 61's for neck/mid..........

Thanks guys, I love the B'Man so much. I can't believe I didn't have this voice until now. It is a mega-versatile module. The cleans are ridiculously good too -you can dial in from spanky to that pushed Chris Isaak heart breaker 6120-type tone. Of course, the more Knopfler-y semi-gritty stuff is great too. Haven't driven it too hard yet. I bet it's fantastic with pedals like its namesake.

Ya, the Areas are the ticket in the positions you guys mentioned.
