If you look closely at the pictures, the finish appears to be the same quality as the Les Paul Junior Specials...

LMAO @ the Dirty Fingers pickups... sure fits with government alright

Wow... That's a shame. That Rosewood could have been used to make a fretboard for a nice guitar.

This shows exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned orange peel on my Special:

I'm not sure if that is orange peel. I think it's like that because they didn't use grain filler before they painted it. They just skipped a step to keep cost down.

Yeah, they definitely didn't use grain filler. You can see the lines in the back of the neck.

It is...you can see on mine the difference between the lack of grain filler (the "worn" finish) and where it has done this (orange peel). Not a dealbreaker on my Special since it was dirt cheap (would have been had I paid MAP though)...unacceptable on this model IMO.

Those pictures show both....no grain filler and orange peel. They skip a few steps. They probably squirt on a sealer coat and a color coat and out the door.

No grain filling. No sanding the sealer coats. No clear coats. And no sanding and buffing clear coats.

And they'll probably sell out...

Agreed...

Interesting marketing by Gibson.

I agree that the paint job leaves alot to be desired.

back of the guitar should have been

Clearly they are trying to cap on the limited nonsense at that price point. The finish is fail. Had they done a proper finish the price would be right, but with that type of finish, $600 would be a better deal. The description also mentions trapezoid inlays while the pic shows dots. The dots really lower the price, since otherwise you have a Standard at a lower price point with a shitty finish. I would never buy this. They wouldn't be running out of rosewood if they would stop making unnecessary models.
