Does anyone know what amps & effects etc. that Iron Maiden have used in the last six months or so? Last 2 years?
I can guess old Marshall heads & cabs, and the Fender Stratocasters and Gibson Les Pauls. But what specifically?
I saw them live last night, getting crushed in the moshpit near the rail in bare feet
, but the show was amazing! But to get straight on topic- the guitar tones were the best I've heard from this band, in particular a lot better than their studio albums recorded 28 years ago or so. So much more fuller and crunchy but still has that rawness. What amazed me though was that I'm sure I could hear some chorusing effect in the mix- I guess it's not too far-fetched to think since they have three guitarists. It didn't sound washy or obnoxious, just this sublime yet rich sound that carried through really well. I guess each guitarist has a slight pitch-shift/detune/uptune mixed lightly, and all three chorus together when they play simultaneously?
I didn't take any videos unfortunately, but here's a quick dodgy clip I found on YouTube. I'm surprised how well the audio was captured- I can even hear the chorus effect. :
