I'm curious to know if any of you are driving an already driven Rebel 20, and if so, what pedal you're using to do it? To be honest, I've never used anything in front of my amps to push them harder before...so I've never used a Tube Screamer (ar any variant thereof)...so, what's the secret? What are your favorites and why?

I just retubed my Rebel 20 with a set of high gain JJ's...which was a vast improvement over the stock Sovteks...so, we're on the right path...just looking for a way to get "more" when I want it.

Your assistance is appreciated.
Thanks,
Erik

I have a Rebel 30, and while it's different, it may be of use to you. I boost my amp with a Fulltone Fat Boost and it really kicks it in the nuts, so to speak. Sounds awesome.

those sovteks must really be crappy if an amp sounds better with jj's-blah. ymmv

I use a Fulltone OCD v1 and a Fulltone Fat Boost v3 on my rebel 20. Both pedals get along really well with the rebel. I keep the gain on my rebel around 1 or 2pm and then push it a little with either pedal. (sometimes both, depending on the situation) Killer for blues, rock, & hard rock.

Like others i think the rebel 20 sounds best with the gain at around 11 to 1 then push it with different od's. I have my gain set to about 12 then i use an OCD for mild to medium od and a Wampler Super Plextortion for heavy gain. The sound is awesome and I could not be happier. To give you an idea I also have a rebel 30 head and while I really like the gain sound it gets I perfer my rebel 20 and the od's I have running in the front end.
