I bought Surgical Steel when it came out in 13 and thought it was great then and all the time since, but I have to say I've been listening to it a lot here lately and its just fucking blowing my mind  You know how you listen to an album and yeah you like it or even love it but then you hear a song off it again one day and all these little nuances and subtleties just start popping out at you. Whether there in the vocals, drums, guitar, whatever, your hearing shit you didn't hear before in the song. Man that's just one of the many aspects that makes music so fucking amazing.

The song off Surgical Steel that brought this rant on was Mount of Execution and in particular this guttural fucking roar at 3:58    Never noticed it until today and it put a :D on my face that stuck with me all day. Thanks Mr. Walker

I like them but my favorite is Heartwork. Ground breaking record when it came out but I like all their stuff.

I have also been playing Surgical Steel lately. Saw that tour in Des Moj Es. Great show, and great band.

Yeah love carcass. SS is a fantastic album....but I actually like the EP surgical remission slightly better for what ever reason. If you haven 't heard it get it, you won't be disappointed

I don't really like Surgical Steel though. Mainly because every Carcass album before it was an logical progression from the previous album, but Surgical Steel sounded like "ok people wanted another Necroticism/Heartwork so let's write some stuff in that vibe". And there were more than enough bands milked that sound to death during their 10-year absence.

However considering that everyone involved in Swansong have made "logical progressions" from it after they first split up (Blackstar Rising by Jeff/Ken/Carlo, Firebird by Jeff). So there isn't anywhere to go after that anyway...

"eehhhaaawwwhhhhghgghh"

Nice

He he he... he said "nuisances"...

All kidding aside, they are a phenomenal band. Saw 2 shows on the SS tour and they
really killed it. Hell, even cranky ass Jeff Walker seemed to be having fun for a change.

I like how SS kinda revisits the different periods of Carcass but doesn't really sound like a
"only in it for the money" kinda album (though, I guess in reality it really was...)

Hope they make some more records. I'm in.

Wow... wasn't expecting it to be so polished, sounds great.

Good catch

Yeah, Carcass is one of my all time faves!! Necrotism gets played weekly and every time I play guitar I always have to play some riffs from Heatwork!
