Is it a big deal to change LED lights on Herbert?

2 of LED lights are off. I've finally ordered 4 of them from Salwender, so they should be here soon.

I was wondering if I can do this myself, I really don't want to leave my amp for a week at the shop for this.

If it's an easy fix, which I believe it should be, ho much time should I expect to spend on this? Is there a lot of disassembling?

you dont really need to take apart the amp just be careful when remove the led's from the circuit board.....when you flip the amp over you can see were the led's are attached to the circuit board . I watched my tech were i live do it it took some care to remove the old ones then after that is was smooth sailing.

I'm sorry, you mean you pulled them out from the front?

nope you got to remove the chassis from the case flip the amp upside down so you can see the circuit board

Makes sense now. Thanks a lot.

OK I have 2 stupid questions now:

1. Do I need to soldier the new one to the old spot? Or it has to go through the circuit board somehow? The wires from the old light seem to be stuck there.

2. There is a little "+" sign on one side of it. I'm thinking it doesn't matter which side is connected to which, right?

to be honest i didnt see that part his hands were in the way

I don't know Herbert's internals but from reading your post I get:

1) I would use the old LEDs legs and solder the new ones onto them. It's always scary to mess with the circuit board. I had bad experiences with lifting pads... But be careful. Don't clip them off near the circuit board. By heating it up, those legs could slip through the circuit board. Also solder quickly!

2)LEDs DO have polarity. When you look at a LED, one leg should be longer than the other. That's the anode and should go to the positive + side.

Best,
Stefan
