just wondering what people will say

i could use the money desperately and buy any number of cheaper amps with plenty to spare,

wondering if there's a say, heavier amp that is cheaper?, i love the other diezel i have and will never sell it, but the VH4 is kind of idk? not my taste, i actually like channel 2 a lot!, but don't like the gain channels that much at all, and find that the same amount of gain is on the herbert and sounds idk more modern of course,

so either tell me "you are crazy" or tell me "i've done the same thing a hundred times and there's nothing sacred in amp buying and selling!"

also i may want another guitar, so shit it's becoming a hard decision

thing is the economy right now is so messed up things aren't going for what i feel they are worth or at least what they used to be worth, so idk again peace

Nope....not at all. In this day and age you have to do what's right for you and the bank book.

But if you sold the Herbert......then that would be just plain wrong!

see you're right, it's may be as good as gone, i love it in a lot of ways, but shit i can't justify having it!

thanks

and yes i'd be crazy to sell the herbie!

I had the VH4S before I had my Herbert.
TO me the Herbert is the King of the Hill and can get close to the VH4 tone on channel 2+.

it really is, i have to agree, i can get such a variety of tones from the herbert that it's sad that people still say it's a one trick pony, i don't understand why they think that, it seems that yes if you go into a music store and play it for 5 minutes you'd get the same impression ya know?

i've had the herbert for years!, and had many amps come and go in between nothing i have boughten is comparable, at all, in terms of heaviness versatility etc,

and ease of use, yes 2+ is amazing and actually took me a while to discover thinking that 3 was the holy grail, but honesty everything in between is primo as well,

so yeah for rhythm nothing beats 2+ but lead sounds amazing on 3,

the VH4 does have many many ups to it, but 3 and 4 sound very similar to my ears except when playing say on 7-8 which is uncalled for unless i'm going on tour with rush soon (which somehow i doubt)

i love the crunchiness when the gain is actually turned down quite a bit, because it seems on the VH4 that when it's up all the way you pretty much have to completely redo your eq, also maybe i'm crazy but it seems the volume drops because of all the compression, idk who cares, both honestly great amps, but the herbert suits me much better for what i like to get and hear from an amp,

I'd say sell it if you could use the cash. I have a Herbert, and after playing a VH4 for the first time, I don't think I am going to buy a VH4 also when the Herbert pretty much nails it's sound with the mid cut off anyway.

Short answer... Yes. It's blasphemous. But hey, whatever floats yer boat.

V. :D

I love me some VH4, but the Mark iv isn't far behind. In fact, I may like the Mark iv as much as VH4, just in different ways. Killer lead channel, great clean, and with a good od (especially bb pre) the rhythm channel sounds great.

If the VH4's not doing it for ya then get something else. Who cares what people will say? What's the point in keeping a $3-4000 piece of gear that doesn't fit your style? And you'll still have the Herbie so you won't be Diezel-less. It's all good.

well yell yeah!, i'm selling it, it's on the bay, and i'll post it here when i figure out a reasonable price,

thanks for all and any input given!

I still say the Herbert Cops some really close VH4 tone on channel 2. ;)

Then 3 on the Herbert just leaves it in its dust...... :D

Get a peavey 5150 or 6505.
Krank-amps are also awesome, heavy and not that expensive.

But the 5150/6505 is used very cheap and very versatile. also its sounds awesome for recording, whereas it seems to be more difficult to capture the diezel raw tone.

Blasphemy!!! :D

get yourself a Splawn..great for the $$. Wayy better than any Boogies IMO. and then you have $$ to spare.

Not unless you consider Peter to be a religious figure... But then I think you'd have a few more problems beyond just amplifier choice.

Lots of people like other amps better than other ones. It's that crazy. There are a lot of people that play for a living that could use any amp they want ..... what are most of them using ? It only is a matter of taste and needs.

Blasphemy is irreverence toward holy personages, religious artifacts, customs, and beliefs.
.....I guess for some it could be ...

I need to get a Herbert--everything I've heard I'll probably prefer it to my VH4...

The VH4 is a GREAT AMP! But the Herbert is PERFECT!

I can get the VH4 tones out the Herbert. I was sold on the Herbert until I plugged into one.........

Sold my VH4S within 48 hours to buy the Herbert.....
Love it!!

Once you've tasted caviar, it's pretty tough to move down to something else that is cheaper.
