Is there a difference in the different Carvin x100b models?

I noticed there are multiple different versions of the Carvin x100b amp head. I just wanted to make sure they are all the same, and if they aren't can somebody explain the differences?

In case you don't know what I'm talking about, here are some pictures.

Idk if its just cosmetic differences or what. Thanks for any help in advance.

There are differences. I don't know all the differences but I'll tell you what I know. Pic #3 is an early to mid 80's version and I believe it came with 6L6 power tubes. Pic #1 is the EL34 version that came out in late 80's. It had a bit more gain. Your pic#2 is the re-issue that came out a 1-2 years ago. Not sure what tubes it has, but I know it has some addition toggle switches and functions, and a different footswitch.

You might want to check out the Carvin amp forum for more info. I'm sure someone over there will know all the differences.

Thanks man, that cleared a lot of confusion up. And I had no idea there was a Carvin forum, that shall be my next stop. Thanks xD

I personally like them a lot more than Marshalls. ;)

The main differences, and I'm not sure model to model, has to do with the crunch channel more than anything. The cleans are great on all of them, and when someone says "that's what Zappa used", they're talking for cleans.

There is a red MK IVB one for sale on this forum for $375 shipped. Id jump on that

I had a Mk 4 for a bit. Switchable from 6l6 to el34, eq, quiet switching, solid rock tones.

The X100B sounds great, my brother has one, and I like playing the Carvin better than my 1987X plexi RI. It is not near as loud as the Plexi, but it can do those tones and much more. It is a newer one I believe. It has the toggle switches.

I shouldn't be on this forum cause I like Carvins? Your logic is impeccable.
