Is there a reason why EMG's are chosen in KOA bodied suhr's?

I.e. Suhr Reb Beach model and I've seen a few pics of other Koa Standard models with EMG's in them?

Im not sure, but thats probably just what Reb likes. He had EMGs back in his Ibanez Voyager guitar too. And then maybe people follow his example since his tone is kick ass?

Mines has a DSV and 2 JST singles and also sounds great. They give the option for Suhrs or EMGS.

As EWSEthan says, Reb Beach uses EMGs his guitars, so that is probably the reason most go for them.

Mine came with Aldrich pups.

Koa body/top, Zebra wood neck. Best sounding guitar I own right now.

Can you post the full specs on that guitar... Is the koa stained darker than usual or did you just happen to get a dark piece? ive always though of koa as having a more honey-ish color

Mine came with EMG's but I am thinking of putting Duncan Blackouts in it.

Hey you guys with the beautiful Koa- did you find this wood to generally have beefier low end low mids tone with humbuckers but still almost like Alder( a bit thicker/warmer) when in single coil modes, with a more sustained singing tone on leads ?

I've had Koa on 3 guitars ,but not on a Suhr ( if I get a Suhr it will probably have to be Mahogany) but still wondering about Koa on the Suhrs- Thanks.
