Who has tried them and how do they stack up against the original ?

someone posted a quick review about them a couple days ago.. dont remember who it was though.

i've got maybe 6 hours of playing on some, with most of that mixed with other speakers.

buy yea, they're looking good so far! i haven't ever played old English greenies or even the heritage, so can't compare them?

for my ears the Green Berets are quite a bit like the Chinese RI Greenbacks, maybe a tad lower mid focus and slightly more woody? hell, the deferences i'm hearing could be the cabs?

damn sure worth 45 bucks.

Thanks. I'm happy as hell with my speaker setup right now. But I have always been a fan of the greenback. For $45 a pop, I was thinking of ordering a pair to have around. I recently had a pair of Weber 1225 clones and personally I preferred the Chinese RI ones. They need a good beating to break in though.

one thing which maybe is note worthy is that the Green Berets have 30oz magnet, while the Chinese RI's have 35oz.

anyways, i guess 30oz is more like what the older more coveted Greenies had.

yep, it took me quite awhile to start liking the Chinese RI's. they just seemed to fall apart and get all nasty when turned up during thier first few hours of use. i kindda just strugged them off and thrashed the living shit out of them with a Triple Recto and another cab, then after awhile i started to take notice to them.

i recently ordered some Webers and i'm kindda worried about them? i like the RI's brightness, but think something that is just barely less bright would be about perfect? may end up being the Berets that are just about right? need to thrash the Berets some more and then give them a good listen on thier own.
