Is there anything like the Friedman IR-X...

... but that's heavier-sounding?

Now hear me out. I don't mean to say the Friedman stuff can't sound heavy. But I'm more of a Rectifier guy than a modded-Marshall guy. So something along those lines?

I've been wanting to move to a tube-digital hybrid setup. I love the ability to play through IR's and headphones, and record direct with IR's. But I also want to be able to run into a tube poweramp and a cab to get some air moving if I want to. Right now, I'm using an HX Stomp for that, but I'd prefer it if the preamp was also tube.

So... any suggestions?

Thanks!

Nothing that I know of, but it’s a perfect format for the modern guitarist. I’m pretty sure it was a hot seller and I’d expect to see more makers following said format in the near future.

I'm actually considering getting one down the road into a power pedal and two 1x12 cabs.

You could do a Synergy Syn-1 with a poweramp simulator/IR box, like a Two Notes or something.

The IR-X is basically like a Synergy BE-DLX module with the digital sim stuff added in.

The Uberschall, IICP, SLO, 6505, etc... modules all get pretty heavy.

fryette power load. has a stereo loop and headphone/monitor out.

The synergy suggestions are good. You might consider the Mesa V-Twin pedal (or other tube preamp pedals) into an IR loader. There may even be an IR loader that does some level of power amp simulation before the IR like the IR-X does.

I'd get a load box with IR capabilities as others suggested. I have a basic Mesa Cabclone IR and it works great with my two Mesa amps

Hello all!
I have an IR-X preamp and am looking to get an IR-J. Both sound great, but there are 2 things that are disappointing:
1. The latency when using the effects loop is approaching 3ms. This is not a problem if there is only one preamp in the chain, but with the addition of my Line 6 g50, modulation pedals, reverb and delay, I get a total latency of over 10ms. And it is noticeable(((.
2. There is no way to disable the emulation of the power amplifier on the balanced output from the preamp. According to the instructions, I also use the impulses of my IR-X in a pair with Synergy Syn1. The result is good, but to get the authentic sound of some modules, 6L6 tubes are needed, not EL34. In addition, we all know how much the power amplifier affects the sound of many amplifiers (Rectifier, JCM800, etc.). Making an impulse of a cabinet with 6L6 tubes, in the desired mode of operation of the power amplifier with the desired microphone location is not a problem for me. Therefore, I believe that adding the option to turn off the internal power amplifier (BE100 EL34) will add versatility in the use of all three preamps (IR-X, IR-D, IR-J). Of course, this function should be able to be saved in each individual preset when switching. My old Mooer Preamp Live had the ability to use transparent cabinet impulses using internal poweramp emulation with different types of tubes. And also in it it was possible to disable the internal poweramp emulation and just load your impulse, made in combination: poweramp-cabinet-mic. The result was super!

The previous firmware of the IR-X preamp made improvements to the sound, but these two moments remain for disappointment...
We really hope that in the next firmware, Dave and the team will reduce the latency to 1-1.5ms and add the option to disable the fixed emulation of the power amplifier.
