Is this Music Man JP6 a clever fake?

Was sussing out a deal, but am a bit suspicious about whether this guitar is the genuine article, because the seller says he does not have the COA.

I know that when BFRs first came out, some of them were just being churned out without certificates and may not have deserved the BFR tag. So the lack of a certificate isn’t a dealbreaker.

But looking at this guitar, I kept wondering if it looked a bit odd. Can anyone confirm if it is genuine? Here are some pictures:

In particular, don’t know why, but the horns look odd to me.

I have been wrong before though, and all the doctors say I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again 😂

Wihtout having it in my hands, from the photos it looks like legit or as you said:" a clever fake".

By the bridge Bottom plate (L vs rectangular) shape, the rectangular baseplate started to be used around 2011/12. So this model made before 2011/12.

Can you have access to the serial number? You could contact EBMM and they will provide you some infos.

For reference here are some pics of one of my 2008 JP6.

Beautiful guitar ^ Solid advice.

a picture of the back would pretty much be able to tell if it is a real one. As it stands here, it looks legit. The case is factory one that was out at that time before they switched to the SKB design.

The seller should really try and clean up the guitar a bit before posting it for sale. It would help if he knew how to wind strings as well. Take a look at the high E string and B strings.

Sorry if I’m missing something here. The CoA should be even easier to fake than the guitar right? Why would the CoA give you any confidence in the legitimacy of this guitar? Unless you’re looking for the serial number which should also be on the guitar .
