It’s a James Tyler Japan Studio Elite HD-P.

Major mod is the addition of a preamp on the back, which can be turned on and off with the button on the front, which was originally used for a coil tap.

Pickups are a Super in the bridge, a Hot Laura in the middle and a Studebaker in the neck.

I think that crooked pickups thing is just a James Tyler shtick. Adds to the mystique about the guitars.

What's wrong with the whammy? it's a Gotoh.

I bet that Tyler sounds awesome Brother AJ; they always do.

It does, Nicky. Been having tonnes of fun with it all day.

congrats & HNGD!

...those headstocks tho...

Haha, yes, it's a love it or hate it design; I prefer it to headless for sure!

Cool guitar. It's interesting seeing non-standard finishes like that. I never would have picked something like that but turns out it looks great.

Tyler = 🥳
I’m going to do the same mid boost mod to my Classic. I recently replaced the stock bridge tone knob with the Fender TBX and it affects all pu positions. Cool results for more presence on cleans and dirties.

Arguably the greatest strength of Tylers is the cleans IMHO; they can be sublime.

Dare I ask, have you played around with it clean AJ?
