It IS possible to switch the Einstein with a GCX, right?

Or something similar? Although, I would have to run the TimeFactor in "Bypass", as the FX loop isn't switchable, correct?

Yes, the GCX will switch it. The Switchblade GL is another great option if you need the added flexibility as well. I had a GCX and ended up with the GL fyi.

Or Nobels MS 4 or with a Nobels MF2 (if you shold have midi controlled fx in the loop).

hey Adam....get the damn Einstein and get Olaf's mod to footswitch the modes in ch.1!

NAO!

You recommend these Nobels units a lot I see. My TimeFactor is MIDI, which would be ideal with this setup. Where can I get these? Also, can the MS-4 activate pedals and the like, infront of the amp, a la the GCX?

Haha, as soon as my XTC sells, I'll be there

Also, do you have the link to Olaf's mod? Could a novice do it without seriously fucking things up?

hmm PM olaf, he'll make it for ya (he'll sell you the mod and build you a pedal) :)

great guy, olaf, one of my fav. forumites without a doubt

My question is if it´s possible to make the mod to control channel 1 with something like g-system. I mean with a stereo jack with two relays for the mod, and the other stereo jack with two relays for changing channels and masters. This woud help me to control the volume of the 3 modes (too much volume in mode 3...)

The mod needs two switching relais (like a G-Major or a Rocktron Multivalve) - together with the ch1/ch2 and master1/master2 that makes 4. So either a Nobels MS4 or the thing made by axess electronics.

About the volume "issue": either control that with different settings of the masters (combined with the mode/master switching) or (easier) hook a midi unit to the serial loop and use its level.

It is still easier to buy a VH4 though :D

So, in a stereo jack, when:

*Relay#1 on and Relay#2 off = Mode 1 -for example-
*Relay#1 off and Relay#2 on = Mode 2
*Relay#1 off and Relay#2 off = Mode 3

Is this right???

both off - mode 2
1 on, 2 off - mode 1
1 off, 2 on - mode 3

Hi Olaf
If I remember well you have a rocktron replifex/multivalve as multifx: did you find using it in series with the internal mixer doesn't affect the tone quality compared to a parallel loop? i have Einstein and multivalve, now in parallel but will try the series to be able to control the volumes of different channels/modes via midi.

By the way I bought an old rocktron progap (first version), with two remote switches like the multivalve...cheap solution (less than 100eur) to have 4 relays for the channels/modes switching and a non-tube backup!

Hi Marco,

I've used most of my fx in the serial loop. Esp. Rocktron products are pretty neutral - depending on the fx of course - I never used tons of it, just some chorus for clean and delay here and there. Let me know if you need help to mod your Einstein - Frankfurt isn't that far away (I'm on vacation this week though . . .)

+1

I use the Rocktron Replifex as well for switching my Einstein Channels and Master and I use it for effects in serial loop.

If you take your time to adjust the levels properly it works perfect in serial-loop. In bypass mode and with no effects I compared it to the original signal by using a high quality looper (Lehle) and didn't notice any change of sound.
In my opinion every effect colors the sound a bit, so think it is up to you or your taste, how you like the effects of the Replifex/Multivalve and how strong you use the effects. For me the Replifex works very well in the serial loop of my Einstein.

(For more vintage/cleaner sounds I run a TC-Chorus (serial) and a TC- Vintage Delay (parallel)
in combination with the Repkifex. That covers all my needs.

Replifex, Delay and Chorus are in loops of a Vermona Loop Jack, which switches the three Modes (Clean, Crunch, Mega) via midi as well - Modes-Mod was done by Olaf (Düsentrieb).

Greetings
