this is recorded totally fucked up.. drums and organs on the left side, both rhythm and lead guitars on the right stepping on each other, bass somewhere in the middle.. totally against all rules of today yet sounds so perfect

 
There is a bunch of great Steppenwolf stuff from the 60's that is top flight rock music. Killer musicians in that band. I've just heard the pusher too many times but I still like it.

Asymmetrical mixes were more common back in that era, but I come across some every once in a blue moon in modern recordings. Remember the earlier stereo consoles could only pan hard left, center, or hard right. So they had to get creative with it.
