Got one of these 1/2 price, as they are blowing them out since introducing their new Pro Plus line last week. ($1400-$1800+ guitars made in China, mind you - no thank you)..

These are actually made in Korea, Gotoh tuners, and I'm anxious to try the Fishman Open Core Classics. Headstock is badass. For the price, it was a no-brainer. There's still a few floating around for $749. Worst case, I flip it, (like everything else). But, I kinda have high hopes, being World Music built, vs. Mexico.

dude i love the 3+3 jackson headstocks. wish mine was reverse like that one. im not a huge fan of the open grain look right now, but that guitar looks killer.

The only downside is it looks like with my KM6 MKII the route for the pickups is specific to the Fishman open cores. The baseplate (actually a pcb) is the same round shape as the bobbins, so to make it looks nice and neat the route is a snug oval. Looks nice but it means you’re stuck with the Fishman open core pickups unless you fancy routing out the guitar.

I hear good things about the Open Cores. I've had a few guitars with the Moderns, they're probably my favorite actives. I like them much more than EMG's.

I like the Keith Merrow version of it a lot actually. It's more of a medium output with some low mid grunt and a lot of upper harmonics. Still I wish I had the option at least to put something else in there if I wanted. The The Merrow voicing taking place of the JB-based voicing is the only difference between that and the Open Core classic. The other voicings are all the same. I will say the wood and build choices of the KM6 make it a very bright guitar and I found it improved things to engage the "HF Tilt" pad on the bridge pickup, which rolls off some of the extra treble. The "PAF" voicing in particular was super bright and stringy/twangy sounding.

Amazing seeing what import guitars are going for these days. Korea makes nice stuff, but damn.. 3-4 years ago, this would be 1299-$1399.
I agree...seems pricey force what it is. One of them will eventually turn up used for $800ish...they always do.

Damn man, I must be losing touch with reality faster and faster these days because I can't possibly imagine paying $1899 or even $1399 for a Korean made guitar. As much as I want to say I don't care where the guitar is made, it just feels crazy to me, especially while USA made Fender Stratocasters are still 1500-1600 new, I guess I don't understand where the value is. Profit margin on a $1900 Korean guitar must be absolutely massive.
Then again many of my favorite guitars were made in Japan and "assembled" in the USA so I'm probably just hung up on stupid stuff. I have no problem buying an amp or pedal made wherever so I don't know it being a guitar instead stops me from buying it. Also I have no complaints about anyone who does shell out for a guitar like this, everyone has their preferences on features and playability etc.
