Any love/hate for these? I stumbled upon a hardtail (no archtop) with 2 SD humbuckers for $700ish but will not have the opportunity to play it first. I was too into my USA made Jackson in the late 90's to even give these a second look. I have been looking for a 24 fret guitar and once had a 90's MIJ archtop soloist pro. Cool guitar and sold it for peanuts. Sigh. thanks!

still digging it?

I've had quite a few 94/95 Japan era dinkys and after a pro setup they were very nice.Complimented my usa soloists perfectly

Yes, in fact I am digging it more than ever. I have a ToneNerd Sunset Strip in the bridge. I am on the lookout for a nice fat warm vintagey neck pickup. The guitar just plays so smooth and sounds even better. I couldn't imagine replacing it for less than $1200-$1500 for a comparable guitar these days. The cool thing is there are always good deals on MIJ Jacksons coming up even though people have been wildly pricing them lately.

I have a beautiful white 90's DK2M - Maple neck. Needs some love (new pickups- Have a set of Zebra JB/Jazz to throw in.

May need a new floyd and setup then good to go.

I think I am going to bite the bullet and have my tech bring her back to life. I do love the necks on those. reminds me of the 80's Chrarvels I used to have.

Great Axe! I am probably going to sell my USA Sl2H and keep this.

I got one of the newer MJ Dinkys today, (they're discontinuing them), and it's insanely nice. Meticulously built.

I thought they were kinda pricey at $2199, but I got $400 off on a blowout deal. Worth every penny.

I'll take some tonight. There's not a flaw on it, and these actually have a mahogany body, vs. the new American Series with alder, the Gotoh trem is buttery smooth, comes with a brass block, and I set it up with .010's with stupid low action.

The American Series is a ripoff. I had one, really liked it, but quickly discovered after about a week it wasn't worth $2500. The 1000-series Bridge got wonky, and after I did more tweaking and set-up work I found tool marks everywhere on the fretboard, like they hired Gibson workers. The MJ quality just blows them away. The Japanese sure take more pride, and it shows. The ebony board is a big thick slab, fret ends were meticulously done, frets polished to an almost SS shine. Not a flaw to be found. I've owned a gazillion Super Strats, and this is by far the nicest. Here's the model, for reference....
