Jackson Pro Series Soloist opinions?

For $999, I brought an Ibanez rg550 back in January.
Imo, probably the best shredder type guitar for that price.
The original Edge trem is awesome and after all these years, I'll take it over a floyd.

Great, comfortable guitar.

That is a solid recommendation. Or even an ibanez prestige, I have four and love mine. If you can snag a nice MIJ Jackson soloist, you will definitely be happy too.

Besides the bolt on neck, what's the difference between the SL3 and the DK2?

I like the looks of this one, https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 3752927185

The neck profile is thinner/flatter on the DK2. They're MIM, the SL3 is Indonesian. Great guitars, but $675 is overpriced. This orange blaze has been long discontinued, and I bought mine new for $499 when they blew them out.

I would look for used. Much better value. Like I said in your other thread, $500-ish should get a nice one.

I've actually been eye-balling this one for the maple, to go with my ebony: https://reverb.com/item/26282615-2019-j ... c-red-mint

I've yet to play a prestige, but if it plays and feels better than the rg550, wow !!

They are definitely a fine instrument. You owe it to yourself to try one. I think that mine are better than the 550's I have played.

I got my Transparent Blue one from AMS 1 year ago and it absolutely is worth the grand..its feels and plays and sounds like a much more expensive guitar.
I have the HH model and I did take the stock SH6B Distortion out of the bridge slot and put in a Black Winter trembucker and made a huge difference..the stock 6B had way too much bass in this guiatr that I couldn't dial out with my 5150-3 50 watt head using its bass pot or an eq pedal..the Black Winter crushes in this guitar.
Its my go to guitar for sure, and the floyd Rose 1000 stays in tune and feels and looks like its higher grade than earlier ones..when I tightened the string lock bolts in place with string inserted into the saddle the bolt felt like it was really solid and not like the saddle would crack or the thread(s) strip..much more solid feeling..overall mine is awesome !

Yeah, I have the metallic black model that I got used, (in mint condition), for $500. I too may switch the Distortion pickups, and maybe put in a coil tap. It is a bit beefy.

I like it so much, I'm selling my PRS and probably getting another SL2 to set up in Drop-D.

The X series are very hit or miss. I like the pro series though. I've tried out quite a few and all have been solid guitars.
I'm trying really hard not to buy this

I tried one a couple weeks ago along with a Charvel Pro-mod and a Jackson Pro series sololist. All were suprisingly good for about 9-1000 price range. I played sooo many duds the past years I was beginning to lose hope.
Unfortunately wife is getting a dental implant so I will be literally crucified if I spend any money. I'm actually supposed to be selling some gear

I would say to maxamize everything go MIJ for less and throw in a Schaller Lockmeister with a big ass brass block. I have two that way, and they feel solid AF, will take any abuse and you can do it for under $500 without issue.

The bridge makes a massive difference. I wish I would have done it a decade ago. I need to budget in four more lockmeisters for other guitars.

I had a couple of the newer Indo-made Pros, and they were very good instruments. The ebony boards were uniformly dark, action was low and stable, and they felt great, in particular the oil finished necks. The only thing I would have liked would be to have either chrome or black hardware instead of that charcoal colored junk that looks like junk after a few months. I had one that needed the fret ends touched up, but being the neck was unfinished, and I live in MN, that happens to even the most expensive, “best” guitars.

That said, you should be able to find them easily for $600 or less on the used market.
