I’ve read a lot of ebony is streaky, many companies dye it to give the more desirable solid black color.

I’ve never seen it being streaked used as a selling point though

Looks good but no original Floyd and it's way too expensive.
I mean in comparison to what else is going on out there with other metal guitar companies, not horrible. Indonesian made stuff from several companies is priced in the same vein as these.

Believe me I get it! I'm just used to prices years ago when you could get a USA SH2 for $2,200 brand new and I'm a huge Jacckson fan!

Totally, everything is way ridiculous right now. I wanted to order a real nice custom shop jackson… can’t even do it anymore. All select line, and for the price they’re trying to charge, just absurd. Wound up going with an independent luthier who I think will exceed my expectations of what Jackson would do for 1/2 the price and 1/3rd the wait time.

These guitars are really not much different than the Mexican made DK24 Charvels that sell for around 1000.00. It wouldn't Suprise me at all if the necks and body blanks were made in Mexico and shipped up here to the US for final paint and assembly.

And another rant, Jackson just came out with the Pro Plus series. Instead of 1000.00 soloists made in Indonesia. They are offering us 1600.00 Soloists made in CHINA!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

There are a lot of Epiphones now pushing against that 1k mark. I think that's the end in terms of getting a high dollar amount for a chinese guitar. It's all overpriced. I expect lines to be cut and sales to suffer going forward. Not enough guitar, too much money.

I'd also suspect you are right about the origin of the parts. 2k for an American Jackson? The parts must be made someplace else. Like 1k Japanese guitars. The parts are all made in China, Indonesia, or the Phillipines and are assembled in Japan.

After really looking at the link with the specs, all I have to say is WTF Jackson! 2k, bolt on neck, no OFR, and dot inlays! Come on Jackson, you can do better than that. I hate piling on them because I'm a huge Jackson fanboy but I could build a guitar from Warmoth for about $1,400 and it would most likely blow this guitar away.

Exactly, and those bodies are probably 3 -4-piece bodies to save money, that's why they are all solid colors. And still not offering SS frets like everyone else.

These are supposedly done on an all-US automated line like they made for the SL3, with none of the old Jackson people doing the builds. I mean, Fender makes USA Strats for under $2K, and these aren't really any different. The German Floyds are too expensive to hit this price point - OEM pricing on the Korean Floyds is like $150 cheaper than the German ones, IIRC. Given the prices used USAs are going for, these aren't bad, although you could argue the MJs are a better deal since the Gotoh is a way better trem than the 1500. I expect the MJs to be phased out, anyway, because the prices went through the roof when shipping got insane.

All the import guitars went way up because of shipping costs, which aren't artificially low anymore. I'd like to see other US companies get on the bandwagon, since they could also be competitive at these price points.

FMIC is keeping the sharks/binding for the prestige customers, like the pointy Charvel headstock and topmounts. They're not really desirable features to a younger crowd that's clearly being targeted with the promo video (except for Marty, but there has to be a legacy guy.)

Most people couldn't, though, and if you don't like the Jackson you can easily resell it. If these are on par with the SL3s, it wouldn't blow it away, as the two of those I've played have been pretty good, but the Floyd would be better (I assume you're not going FR Special). You also can't get that heel from Warmoth, but you have more color options, can choose pickups right off the bat, skip the damn blade switch for a proper 3 way, etc.

You can say the same thing for USA Charvels, BTW, and people still buy those, as well as variants from Chubbtone and Luxxtone.

Now, the argument could also be made that it's not $1000 better than a Mexi DK2 with a Plek job, and that may be true, although that 3-bolt heel still bugs me.

Still, this is Corporate Jackson giving a shit, which is something new.

I'm happy with the Jackson X Series Rhoads, recently got two: (darkened the fretboard on the black one), FR Special is working fine, comes with Duncan Blackouts:
