Great band but just listen to sound of this album. Everything's so clear and distinct, you can hear the smallest intricacies and details of every instrument.

This was definitely the peak of sound quality and conversion in music. Even with the current technology they don't produce/mix stuff like this anymore.

I know what you mean.. whenever this comes on hair nation, I have always thought the mix is excellent and the sound of the drums are very clear. It is a really well mixed album. Maybe the earlier days of digital recording into things like the early alesis units.

I was actually thinking the same, might be an early ADAT release. Many albums were recorded on digital recorders already in the 80s.

Nevertheless, music industry should have kept this sound, but no, everything needs to be ruined for some stupid reason. 🥴

Well, we obsess about conversion but at the time, the early ADATs ( on vhs) would be digital and would retain the highs better than the roll off you get with tape. As such it would appear crisper. Now we are at the point where conversion is so crisp and everything is in the box that we are trying to go back the other way and create tape plugins or over pay for PITA tape machines to get the " vibe". I personally really like hybrid. I do wish that Alesis would come back out with an updated HD24 though. Ditch the DAW would be the dream ( with all the convenience of digital)

Agreed with the Hybrid setup as it basically emulates the Digital recorder + Analog Console setup that many legendary albums were recorded with.
