Hey guys, I really love Shinedown's old guitar player Jasin Todd's sound.
I know he used Diezel VH4s with Gibson guitars, but does anyone know what pickups he used?

i think jasin is no more on shinedown...the new guitarrist is zack myers, he is using a herbert mainly, he uses prs guitars and teles, and a lot of stuff.
by the way, right now he is hooked with engl stuff( i dont know why...really), he have a lot of gear, so you never knows exactly what he is playing.... ;)

Hey Berni, I know Jasin's no longer in the band, but do you know what pickups he used to use with his Gibsons?
Ya it was weird seing Zack Myers with Engls, I saw that a few days ago
I met him last year, hes a really cool guy

i am not really shure, but due to the pictures it seems that they are stock. but i really dont know.
sorry...i think that he is now in fuel.

Hey Berni, cool, no worries, ya just read about him joining Fuel. Cant wait to hear their new stuff. By the way nice rig, I have the VH4 but Id love to get my hands on a Herbie too, I just tried it with a Diezel cab, and it was awesome, I wish I had a couple of those cabs but for now Im stuck with my Mesa cabs.
Is your cab Front or rear loaded, and what speakers? Also in x-pattern?

my cab is rearloaded v30, but fronts are ok too. x pattern its ok some times, but if you want to squeeze it 100% you must need two mics.
forget the mesa´s, dont combine well with diezels...imo. bass+bass= blurry sound, and no focused. i used to use mesas and recently changed all.

i know that is a off topic, but, i had to say it...why many diezel users in usa are changing to engl? it seems that engl people in usa must say that are the best germany amp company or something...
dont get wrong to me...engl are ok amps, but they are not diezels, not even bogner...,they have cheap components, and very cold sound, no character at all. engl in europe is going down, in spain i was engl endorser in year 2000....i know all his amps, cause i have a shop too. steve morse made a clinic here, but, honestly, i cant found an engl head sounding good for me. cabs are ok, but thats all.

i think that american guitarrist ( not everybody!! ;) )see engl like a expensive germany amp, but it doesnt, honestly. they are not hand made at all, and they are miles away from diezel.

sorry for this...

because american guitarist not so smart. (not everybody! ;) ) This is coming from an american guitarist. I goto "guitar center" and wanna puke when I step through the door.

oh...i dont wanna start a fight with american guitarist...at all. i was talkin about some bands that are capture from engl...like godsmack, they record with herberts, have splawns, and other top quality amps, and they tour with engl? i dont understand.

engl is perfect for europe heavy metal sound, thin sound and no character. but is hard to see bands with awesome guitar sound in records and then in live....

thats what i talked about...not all american guitarist.

I know what you're saying. I'm was just taking a jab at all the people at guitar center that think line6 and new fender amps are the best thing EVER! As far as the guys touring? I think the same thing. An Engl may have made a track come alive in the studio, but I just don't get it. Maybe its because they don't want to take their better expensive amps on tour? Maybe Engl pays them to do it? Maybe they just do too many drugs.

i agreed... but life´s too short, if you have nice amps and nice guitars...enjoy them.leave at home  , in that case i prefer buy a picasso. :D

IMO Engls have their place just like Diezel, Mesa etc. I'd rather own a Diezel, but if I had both I'd probably tour the Engl so the Diezel wouldn't get beat up. ;)

This website says that the EMG site used to list Jasin as an EMG user, but he's not listed on it now. :dunno:

Hey Berni, I agree with you that Engls are a bit cold sounding, but one thing I did notice about them is they are very easy going for palm muting anywhere on the neck. But still, they are missing some character IMO.

Glassjaw: Thanks for the link, there's some videos of him live using Les Paul Standards and it looks like he used the stock pickups on those guitars, but I dont know 100% sure.
No worries though, thanks again

Jasin is a fantastic guitar player. Shinedown when they fist came out were awesome. I remember reading an article about Jasin and he mentioned the VH4S. He is really the one that got me to noticing Diezel then the gas pains began. Then, Adam Jones of course. But, yeah, Jasin had a great tone, live and recorded. The one tobacco burst Les Paul he was sporting most of the time when they popped onto the scene was an original 58 and had 57 Classic original pickups in it.
