JB or Distortion

I have a JB in my mahogany schecter (which I currently have setup for lower tunings - namely C# give or take a half step)

I have a Distortion that I need to install in basswood Ibanez that I plan to set up for standard 440.

My question, would I be better off putting the JB in the Ibanez , and the Distortion in the Schecter.

Basically, what I'm asking is would this work better:

JB - heavy metal, speed metal, power metal, thrash metal, and anything else in standard
Distortion - C,C#,D,E flat

You need to try them out in both guitars and use your own ears... ;)

I hear ya...but you will end up second guessing yourself in the end.... also try to get a friend to listen with you as well

nah, I'm not THAT picky about tone

I'll probably just put the JB in the Ibanez, and the Distortion in the Schecter.

if I end up not liking it, I'll go back eventually

I would probably use the JB in the basswood guitar for standard tuned stuff. I personally think basswood sounds horrible for low tuned metal.

Try the Distortion in the Ibanez and let me know, I've been thinking of that combination myself :)

I think the distortion is tighter than JB. I like both of them. The JB is more classic-sounding. I just ordered a Distortion for my mahogany guitar. So I can let you know how it turns.

I just put a Distortion in my LP custom and it sounds friggin great!

It's supposed to be awesome with mahogany guitars.

You could probably write a book by now. Which would save our lazy asses a lot of painful work. :gethim:

It does!! But I didn't know it before I put it in. I like it a lot more than the Bare Knuckles I had in it before.

Love the Duncan Distortion.

I usually get bored with having the same pickups in my guitars after a while, and end i up swapping them all the time, but that Distortion has been in my cheapo Epiphone since i got it, and it's staying.
