I'm writing here to officially document my selling experience with forum moderator JB.

I sold JB a 1982 jcm 800 2204 that was modified by Mark Cameron. This head had a version of the ocean mod on the front, and a low gain Jose on the back. I purchased this head from will (cyndicate) and really dug the head! This amp had a super thick low end, did really good blues tones and hi gain tones on the front channel , and some awesome rock tones on the back. I sold this head to fund the purchase of my ccv. I again invite anyone to review my you tube clips of the amp here

When i sold JB the amp he had contacted me shortly after saying that the amp was biased way to cold, and that it sounded really bad. Not only the worst Cameron he had ever heard, but the worst amp he ever heard period. He then told me that he was going to have his tech look at it. It was very odd to me that the bias was that off as I re tubed the head and re biased it before it left. Can a Bias trim pot move that much in shipment ? Maybe? I don't think so? did the amp get damaged , very well likely yes. I am willing to accept that for sure. Jb told me the tech had gotten the amp to sound great, and that was the last i heard of it. At no point to JB contact me to say look, something is really wrong and i need to send the amp back , or can i send the amp back ? or can we file a damage claim? Usually when you don't hear anything from the buyer that is a good thing in my eyes (generally) I assumed all was well.

Apparently not this time... A few days ago out of left field JB decided to publicly slander me right here on rig talk. Before even sending me a PM to try to resolve any of this saying that i sold him a bum amp! He stated that he felt guilty selling the amp at the $1800 dollars i sold it to him for and that he took a $400 dollar hit on the sell price, plus his expenses for the repair and the time / driving involved. I felt really bad and offered a gesture of half of his expenses for the repair, in the good faith that maybe the amp really did get damaged in shipping. (which again it MAY have)

After doing some detective work I just learned that he sold the amp to Lution for $1800 dollars the original sell price, and that Lution or blackwater (the current owner) never knew that there were any issue's with the amp or that the amp had been further modified by someone besides Mark. I thought you felt bad Jb???
you can review this thread for his statements and mine viewtopic.php?f=3&t=51448&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=100

ADDITIONALLY whoever the tech was who worked on the amp , modified the amp further. He added a control to the back channel and who knows what else in the process. If i were investing $1800 dollars into an amp that is being advertised as a cameron modded amp, i would have liked to known the history on the amp. Especially if something had been added or taken away. If i were them i'd feel the same as you felt when you got the amp that "sounded like shit!" I find it very funny that there was no mention of this to the buyer or that no mention of the amp having previous issues. What explanation can justify not telling someone that? Figuratively EVEN IF I DID SELL YOU A BUM AMP (which i didn't) WOULD THAT MAKE YOU ANY BETTER THEN ME AT THIS POINT?? I THINK NOT!

At this point I now retract my statement and my offer to pay for half of your repair fee's. What would I really be paying for? for some unknown amp tech to modify your amp? Na no thanks.

Say what you want about me! but I did not sell you a broken amp ! I do believe that it did get damaged in shipping, but I find it very odd you didn't demand or ask for a refund. You had a buddy fix it and sold it off quietly to recoup your initial investment or maybe your buddy fucked with the amp and it never sounded the same. Who knows? maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like no one will really ever know the truth.

I'm all for unity and the better and bigger picture here at rig talk and anyone who really knows who I am can vouch for me just the way I'm sure you have 50 people on here that can vouch for you. I don't want to fight, I'm here because i find rig talk fun and informative and I'd like to keep it that way and continue to contribute positive things to the community.

WHATEVER the case there it is on paper folks! Say what you will and fire away!

Sounds to me like the amp had an issue that you didn't know about. Sounds fishy to me, but whatever. All JB could do is get it fixed, and then sell it.

My advice to you would be stop dealing on the internet for awhile and do not have any further involvement with Mark Cameron or his amps.

+1

and a further comment that J.B. is one of the most honest, trustworthy, righteous dudes I've run accross - done multiple high end / high $$$ transactions with him without a single issue. One of the few people I would send an amp or guitar to without having payment in hand or even sent.

Besides this amp being modded by Mark Cameron first, this has nothing to do with Mark, what relevance does this have here? This was a private sale between Jb and myself.

There was nothing wrong with that amp. I played it the night before Nick shipped it to JB. Nick is a great guy to do business with. People can say what they want about Nick trying to help out Mark Cameron, but the bottom line is that Nick is doing his best to try to help others with the Cameron stuff. Nick helped me with a transaction with Mark and keeping in touch with him regularly.
