Anyone install an effects loop on a jcm800 and not regret it? Really been wanting an effects loop lately and have been considering putting one in one of my 800's..... might just sell one to get that Helios soon.
I love them unmodded, just missing a loop recently..

I have done it to my 2204. No regrets. It's also one of the most requested mods from my customers alongside more gain, and fatter at lower volume.

I assume you mean a SS loop? I'd love to hear the Metro zero-loss loop vs the Ironsounds loop. Don't know if it is still true (or if it really matters) but I read that the Metro loop uses high voltage and in order to not smoke the SS components some of those SS components used are not designed for audio. The Ironsounds loop knocks the voltage down and uses SS components designed for audio. Whether any of this manifests itself in improved sound I have no idea.

I've installed quite a few Metro loops in Marshall circuits and they've all worked great.

I don't know if your 800 is similar, but I recently had Dave Friedman install a Metro effects loop in my 1980 JMP. I wanted it to be totally reversible with no drilling because the amp is super clean and original. He also did a couple circuit tweaks that made it sound much better and they also are easily reversible.

Not sure if your 800 is the same with extra speaker jacks, but my JMP has four jacks. I used two of them to mount the Metro effects loop.

Damn. Nope. I have the di out on the back. Mine are both '86 800's, one a 50 watt and one a hundred. Having it completely reversible would totally convince me to do it.

And man your jmp looks new! I just traded a '76-77 jmp last year, worked awesome but looked its age lol.

I'm not really sure. I'll look up the Ironsides loop. I haven't used a loop in a long time lol. A friend of mine locally uses the same year 800's as I do, and told me his trick is to run the eq of the Marshall dimed, and then cut Or boost a little here or there with an eq in the loop..

Dang, that's a clean looking JMP.

I debated on putting a loop in my '83 JCM800 4010 combo, because of the rarity. I sent it out to Fusionbear for tweaks, caps, and had him add the Metro loop. No regrets as it makes the amp more usable to me. I also have a Metro in my '80 JMP head. this would be the only loop I would consider putting in.

As far as de-valuing the amp...I'm doing what I need to do now to love the amp and not worry about how much I'm going to get for it from the next owner. But that's just me.

I have used an Ironsides loop and thought it was great. It wasn't a regular 800, it was a kit build but it worked great and was very quiet. I would recommend it if you decide to put in a loop.

I have put loops in quite a few amps Mostly marshalls and I would recommend the metro amps loop . I have used it and the iron sounds . I have never had a problem with the metro loop and I have had trouble with 2 of the iron sounds loops .
