I bought a new Beck signature Strat in November.
Open up the case and the trem is WAY OFF the body.

Thought that was a bit crazy so I tightened the springs till it was against the body.
Then I come to notice the trem block string holes no longer line up to the cut out(back plate) for string changers.
So,am I to understand that the trem floats .125 or more off the body?

What was the action like before you tightened the springs? It should float, but the whole trem should not be WAY OFF the body as described. Maybe a pic?

I didnt even try to play it with the trem way off the body.
The action wasnt bad but like I said,if you dont have the trem off the body, the block doesnt like up to do a string change.
(unless you take the back plate off)

This has a two-point trem? The trem baseplate should always level with the body.

If you want the baseplate against the body, lower the two studs until you get there.

Adjust the action at the saddles.

The Beck set-up has the trem floating way high, for sure, so it could definitely have been right from the get-go.

It’s not recessed, so if yo want to have pull-up range like Beck, it has to float off the body. You can still run the action low by lowering the saddles (and shimming the neck if needed).

As some others have said, Jeff has his trems set to float fairly high, so that he can do all of those crazy whammy tricks. The Carl Verhheyen video above is an excellent example of how to set up your Fender trem, if you want to play like Jeff, or Carl for that matter.

This is how I have my Jeff Beck Strat setup. I love and it stays in tune great. The thing really never goes out of tune.

It must be the claw being at an angle that makes his set up work so damn good. I just did
my JB the same way.
Thanks for posting that video.

Now,for a hotter bridge pickup.....

The angled claw is pure placebo. Has been debunked more than once.
