Saw this the other day. Does anyone have any experience with this pedal? Pretty $$$$$$$$$$

most sig pedals are cash grabs. Timmons used to use a BB preamp and sounded awesome with it.. why switch? To be honest he mainly uses his drive pedals like salt n pepper. The meat comes from his amps and the way he plays. I don't bother much for sig gear for that very reason anymore..

yes, BB, then angry charlie, now JHS. What is the difference we see here?

Completely different purpose than the BB. Andy used the BB to push the gain channels of his Boogies. The JHS is a slightly tweaked version of their Angry Charlie, which is an "amp in a box" type of pedal. It's not an overdrive like the BB. It is a high gain pedal that is meant to be plugged into a clean amp. (Like the Bogner Red, Carl Martin Plexitone, etc) Andy has been using an Angry Charlie into the Lonestar's clean channel instead of boosting his dirty channel with an overdrive.

Look up the That Pedal Show videos on Youtube. Daniel from GigRig and Mick Taylor do a pretty entertaining series on pedals. Anyway, they have a couple videos demonstrating the Angry Charlie and comparing it to other MIAB (marshall in a box) type of pedals.

Here ya go:

That sounds pretty good to me. I didn't look at the price though.

The 3 position switch can cover lots of range.

I was not aware that Timmons had gone to a pedal pushing his clean amps.. I thought it was for variation purposes. I still do think his pushed amp sounds better though but again, that is all a matter of personal taste and there is no right or wrong there. He is a monster player either way.

I watched part of the pedal show vid.. those two guys annoyed me too much to finish. I mean the bald guy's comments and his constantly shitty playing to mask the fact that he really can't play in that style was pretty lame. Enough laughing already, we know you suck, try to take it somewhat seriously. Pedals sounded ok though.. there is just something about pedal drive. Does nothing for me.

Hiya, thanks for posting my vid! This pedal is for sure meant to be in front of a clean sound, and I really like it- kina "Steve Vai"-ish or something, a great fat lead tone, Marshally, but with full mids. Notice when i go way up high it sings- it's not piercing. Feels great to play as well!

and as we say in every thread referencing Pete Thorn, that guy could make a piece of string hooked up from his guitar to a used coke can sound great, hardly a fair reference for the rest of us hacks! ;)

Right. This isn't their usual thing. Both guys are great players in their own right, but not shredders. I posted that one up because it compares the JHS to other similar pedals. Pete's video is fantastic, as is most everything he does.

MIAB in front of clean amp, avoids all the compression of the signal more use it than you think and avoid pre-amp distortion in heads.

Pete, you're such a cool dude. Thanks all that you've shared with us

Mulled it over for quite some time, Sweetwater had 'em on sale this past weekend and I took the plunge. Got it today and it's a keeper.

I was very interested in how the AIR feature would work with my 20th Shiva clean, as I prefer it with the BRIGHT switch on, therefore, most OD/dirt pedals a thin and brittle in front of it. All knobs straight up on @ sounds great into this amp, along with my V-Plex and Marshall 1923 clean. The 1923's OD channel and @ pedal are almost identical, though, albeit the pedal is a bit more gain saturated. The "wattage" switch is very useful for bringing the volume down to a home/bedroom level, too.

Very happy to have this one in the tone locker.

Holy pedal necro-bump, Batman!

;-)
hehe...I did say I mulled it over for quite some time...and well worth it.

Also the result of searching the forum before creating a new, duplicitous topic. :gethim:

I have one, I love it, gives you a chubby lasting longer than 4 hours...

I have totally abandoned high gain amps for almost a year now and run 100% pedal platform and could not be happier.

I slightly boost my AT with a maxon OD-9 and that is where I get all my dirt tone from with my JTM 45 and my Fender Michael Landau combo.

The Shizz period!

Honestly, I bet that sounds killer. I've tried the Angry Charlie, the @, and the DLS mkIII and they all sound killer into that sort of platform.

Old clip of the JHS AT thru a Marshall Jubilee clean channel, w/ a Tyler Burning Water. Great pedal. Has more mids than the Friedman, which I prefer a bit more.

Hehehe...I started this thread and...never bought the pedal...forgot all about it.
