Hey guys!

Would like to know what you guys think about these tubes, it´s either Winged C EL34 or JJ´s E34L....anyone played them both?
Time for new tubes....

Peace!

I have 4 KT-88's and 2 6550's in my herbie ther are solvtek because they
where the only one's my store here in town had but the sound awsome

I have.

The SED are much fuller sounding in the mids but the JJ have a deeper low end, when biased right they are both fairly tight tubes. The SED have a more musical high end then the JJ but the JJ are more Aggressive if that's your thing. SED's are much clearer overall. SED's have a better clean but a good clean is attainable with JJ's.

My fav's are the SED's but honestly the JJ's are nice tubes, just depends on what ya want.

More aggro-JJ

More wall like/fluid-SED

Can't say on the Herbie. But, I have been a supporter of JJ's for years in my Mesa and Bogners. Tried them in the VH4 too. I must say, the SED's are better in the VH4 than the JJ's, to me anyway. The JJ's are too tight. Tight is good in some cases   , but not here!

Hahaha!! No need for shouting ;)
I think I´m going for the JJ´s this time (I don´t wanna be yelled at again :D )

By the way Peter, I got the LED´s...thanks a million!

Is this just you recommendation for the Herbie or did you generally switch from SED =C= to JJ and if so how come that you changed your mind?

Wonder what those stock Ruby's are.

I need to get a sextet too. Thats the downside of a herbert all those tubes! haha JJ's are the better price between the two (SED and JJ's) though.

JJs are great tubes & they are priced right. SEDs are great tubes too, but not worth the money IMO.

Rudys sound great in Herbert IMO, I especially like them for channel 1. Whether they are reliable or not is another question, they seem to fail pretty often IME.

Now who tried a sextet of Russian Mullard EL34s? They look a lot like SEDs, are these by any chance the same tubes?

I´m more and more convinced by the JJ sound.

For reliability I get the Teslovak E34LS. Same sound
much much better quality.

I thought Tesla tubes were not being produced anymore. Where do you get them?

JJ is Tesla, the actual name is JJ Tesla. JJ bought out the Tesla plant, you can't get the old production tubes anymore though when it was just Tesla and not JJ Tesla.

So how is Teslovak any different then JJs? Teslovak is the plant of Tesla tubes.

I'm not really sure, probably raw materials, revised, I'm not really sure, same plant though. I think the original Tesla tubes have been out of production since the 80's no telling what was lost in that time frame. Just saying what I know,I don't claim it to be 100% accurate.

Saw this moments after buying a sextet of Svet SED's.  I have had luck w/ the Svet's in the past though. I have JJ's in my Uberschall.

What about the TAD E34L-Cz Premium Tubes? Do they sound the same as the JJs or are they different?

If it has a CZ after it then those are the JJ, TAD just tested them.

Just put new SED's in my Herb and WOW, I love 'em! Had some older Rubys in the amp prior to that (stock maybe?) ... now it sounds spongier, warmer and fatter. Like a Diezel should. I also have had good luck w/ Brimar preamp tubes.

Yeah the SED's rock, what do the Brimar's do for the amp? I'm pretty well set for all chinese myself but, hey, if somethings going to do better... why not?
