What's up with JJ just re-arranging the letters/numbers of their tubes? Not confusing at all...

LOL.. Like em or not, JJ's come stock in a lot of amps because they are reliable.

Marketing Bro. All BS hype.
Its all the same shit.
But throw in those "fluff" words and the g.a.s. is lit.
Those words sound better then..the tubes..?
Sucker born every second. Send me the money.

This thread def has my interest. May order a couple for my Nitro as well, as I feel it suffers from too much bass and lack of mids in the right places. Could be itneresting.

The E83CC is awesome and a nice update to the JJ line. I really like the aggression in the upper mids...it cuts nicely.

sent you a PM buddy..

Necrobumping this thread. Being a tube-roll adicct, i would like to know where you guys prefer to use the E83CC. V1? or V2-V3?

Unknown amp to you i am sure, Zograf Ravener. five gain stages. With my usual, or in many cases, go to combination tung sol in V1 and jj ecc83s in V2 and V3, it is just overkill. but also, the high end would need a bit more crispness. So i put a EHX 12ax7 in V1 which has a more crisp attack and is also a bit less gainy than Tung Sol imo. And then, i put the ecc83 in v2 and v3 which also has less gain than the ecc83s and also, i think the ecc83s does not work well with the ehx in v1 (imo of course). now gain is more usable, but no matter how much i turn it up, it always has such a non-aggressive character. Very tight, kinda dry, but lacks some nice juciness i usually get from the jj ecc83s or shuguangs in V2 and V3.

So i was just wondering what experience you guys have with the e83cc in V2 and V3, or if you prefer it in v1

THose Tubes are quiet as fuck with the Frame Grid design. It's something you can hear right away..
Great as a V1 is you have a lot of gain stages..

yeah they are dead quiet, i know. that is also why one of the big tube shops in germany does not have a v1 selection of these :) but my question was rather about how you guys like them soundwise in different positions.

I was rolling pres for my combo and the E83CC was the immediate champion for V1 with all the mechanical noise.. I still have 4 other spots to fine tune it.
I went with JJ ECC83's for the other spots because this amp is bright and they helped.

Even as an extreme vintage tube snob I did really like these. They don’t have the organic, better tone quality of vintage tubes, but the voicing was really good and not too far off from my Tesla E83CC’s and being lower noise is a nice bonus
