I thought his main baby is the Marshall Jubilee?
His main rig consists of a Van Welden, Marshall Silver Jubillee i think a Two Rock and the fourth amp is varyiing. He played a lot either another Silver Jubilee, his signature amp a Category 5, sometimes even a JVM and lately often an old Bogner XTC. He told once that was the only amp he used without any effects ala Kossoff. So Joe has that older XTC which he loaned?? or bought??, don`t exactly know while Reinhard Bogner is supposed to build him a custom model. His new Bogner was supposed to replace his Category 5 signature amp!!??!!
Maybe the whole thing didn`t work out because they couldn`t agree on the price   ? As you can see from the article
http://www.guitarnoize.com/blog/comment ... n-the-way/ it is some time ago that they agreed on that so i wonder what happened in the meanwhile. Joe brags a lot of his new equipment over at the Bonamassa forum so i wonder why he hasn`t told anything about his new Bogner baby. But maybe it just isn`t delivered to him.

I would thikn he'd keep using the old one rather than have a new one built. Something about new capacitors and parts that have something missing from older parts. Maybe older parts get burned in or they were better quality....but older amps always seem more organic and warmer to me than off the shelf new amps.

Hope the newer ones sound good too since i am about to pull the trigger on an XTC 20th :D

I don't know much about Joe's Ecstasy that is being built, but I know that I have had Ecstasys and Jubilees (getting rid of my current Jubilee, a nice 2550), and I would take the Ecstasy any day; trying to get funds for another now.

I can't keep up with Joe. I know his Marshall Jubilee has been his baby for a long time. He also fell in love with Carol-Ann amps......gave a gushing review, making it sound like he had never heard a better amp than the Carol Ann OD2. How he is onto Bogners?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPeQLaFAvlE&feature=related

In an interview he said he uses the Carol Ann for cleans.

If I were to get a Marshall anyway, it would be a DSL 50 and mod it!!! Lots of mods you can do to make it a spectacular amp.

Hey there evry one (first post!!!).

I am not very fammiliar with Joe's playing but from what i hear a great deal of his sound is influenced by EJ.Maybe he went after the 100b after reading that it is the only multi channel amp owned by EJ the Bogner site.

Oooooooooooooooooooh just you wait!! They're blissful. And do understand, a lot of care was taken in placing old school circuit components into these rigs to bring back that amazing tone of old, AND some crazy ass new territories.

I love my 20thA. For me? It's a keeper for life.
