Anybody ever put el34's in this amp... Can you make a clip for me. I like the sound so far but I think in missing that midrange snarl that el34's give and the sound would be on point then!

There should be some ?'s in there haha... Flip grammar!

had one loop wasnt to great gone before el34s

Huh? I don't understand? He asked if anyone had tried
EL34s. I think you said you did not but the loop sucked???
Can you clarify your vague statement? Not really very constructive?

It is very easy to try other tubes since the bias adjustments are on the rear. FYI, if you want the best of both worlds, you could put EL34 tubes in say the outside sockets, and 6L6 in the center pair. In fact if you did that, all four would be on (mixed) in the high power setting and in low power, you would have 60 watts from just the pair of EL34 tubes.

From the man himself! Thanks! I didn't know you could do that with these, rad! Just like my old Herbert. I'm super glad you made this amp, I'm going to try and make a clip when I get a shot. I sold all of my equipment a couple of years ago and no way could I get back into the over the top diezel rig I had and this was as close as I could get within my budget and I really don't feel I'm compromising anything. It sounds great once you familiarize yourself with it. I think some el34's will put it right where I want it for sure! I don't really think the loop is bad btw, it's not like the diezels I had but that's pretty much apples to oranges. The midi was the real selling point for me honestly, besides it sounding pretty darn good.

How do you feel the Armageddon compares to the Herbert in terms of brutality of tone, I'm in the market for a good solid very quiet metal amp and these are both on the list. It would be interesting to get some feedback from someone who has owned both?

Armageddon sounds good! I may just have a gem but it sounds really really good. Having said that, I would would swap it in a heart beat for my VH4 or the Herbert. It's really not a fair comparison in all honesty. You're talking about a mass produced amp and an amp hand made with top notch everything. It's about as close as you're going to get new in that price range however and you're really no sacrificing on sound and to some it may even be better. I still like my diezel and will own another in due time. For now I'm very happy though.

So you know I'm actually a vh4 guy, I thought it was way better for me than the Bernie and its possible to cope some of those tones out if an Armageddon with bright engaged on the channel.

Thanks dude - I agree it's not really a fair comparison and there is quite a price difference too ;)

Thanks for the feedback, now I've just got to find somewhere to try an Armageddon!!!
