Wow! Easy as pie. The whole external bias thing is great. I now firmly believe that if you build a tube amp, you should put external bias text points and adjustment on it. I don't know if Bruce was the first to do this, but who cares. It's a truly great idea. Much better alternative than the Mesa "set it and forget it" method.

+1
I check my bias all the time since it's so easy.

TS 6550. Got em from 3milestone a while back and just now got around to putting them in. Dig em so far.

Them TS 6550's sound great, but they do like volume!!

Yes they do like volume. I like the TS5881's but when I turn up my clean tone starts to sound a little congested. The TS 6550's stay clear at high volumes and compress in a very musical way. They kill in the Mod 50 and sound great in the 10watt mode.

Glad you got around to making good use out of them. The volume thing must explain maybe why I didn't take to them. I like low wattage turned up a loud or even on half power. I just put JJ 6V6 in my MOD 50 last night and I just love the way it sounds. While the EG3X may have lost a half a notch of thunk, the Bassman channel A is SPECTACULAR and extremely woody on the Strat neck pickup boosted with EP3. The MOD 50 is such a cool amp. I have owned it for (???) 7 years now. I never get tired of trying new things and it always manages to give me a surprise. I think I am seriously going to get a set of yellow jackets and stick EL84 in there too.

7 years?!!? Wow... I got my MOD100 off of sniderman 4 years ago and it was a relatively unknown amp at that time.

 Okay whatever. I am TERRIBLE at remembering dates and such. How long has the MOD 50 been out anyway??? It was probably around 2005 or 2006 I guess.

Not trying to bust yer balls, er, your memory Tommy... I was just amazed that anyone would actually have an amp that long these days :D

It's actually possible that MTS has been out for almost seven years... although it did start in the single channel form.

  Yeah man, and a very select few go through amps the way a WOMAN goes through toilet paper!

I did start actually with what I believe was the last IE4 Bruce made before the Rcoktron production, then went to single channel M4. Sold that for the MOD 50. It is just true for me anyway that modular has cured my gas. I hear other really good amps, but I am so getting my sound from Egnater I don't have to have anything else.

Not to worry about ball busting ... no sweat dudes :D

I'm not saying that the Mod 50 is the be all end all...but I'm getting more compliments with this amp than any I've owned in the past. It's always in the pocket no matter what gig I'm doing.
