STOP IT. I don't need more GAS. I have a Herbert and am impatiently waiting on my Goldfinger amp and cabs!!
All kidding aside, how would you compare it to a Herbert? I mean, aside from the lack of a clean channel..?
Well, all I can say is by having the VH4S already, AND this kickass TJ, I "don't need a Herbert". Now, if I had, say, an XTC101B, I'd probably GAS for the Herbster... But I've got the best of both worlds here - the V is an amazing amp, at least to my ears... It has four unique voicings all of which are brilliant in their own way. I love the Herbert, but it's a looser, more, how can I say, hmmmmm
I really can't explain what it is. I love it - don't get me wrong. It's just when I think "Herbert" I think HI GAIN MONSTER. I already have clean and crunch with my VH4S, know what I mean? As well as 2 ultra slick - ultra Diezel channels. So, as I described before - if I bought a Herbert in addition to my VH4S, I'd have this "overlap" of sound (not that that's a BAD thing). But those two amps, would kinda add up to being 1.5 in total - if that makes any sense. With the Bogner...it's an entirely different amp. Its voicings are unique and believe it or not, I get this near-clean groove on Channel 1 that just sounds f*ckin' delicious with my Les Pauls. Totally unbelievable tone. I love the hi-gain territory of Channel 2, and this would be what I would want from the Herbert. But instead, I have an incredible spectrum on Channel 1, all Bogner no BS...a killer Channel 2, and then my 4 channel Diezel.
I'm seriously at peace with these amps!! I hope this made sense... If I came across a Herbert for a great price - I'd be tempted, but I really wanted the VH4S for the truest of true Diezel tones. It's tight as hell. Percussive. I wanted the UberTJ to be that looser beast with a bass punch that would shake the house (and man, it does), and whaddya know, Channel 1 ends up being this magic surprise I never banked on.
Sigh....
I hope I managed to get to the matter.
